"Xioami", the name looks like a knockoff of Xiaomi. Maybe that's why your product didn't hold it's battery charge.

    • Just wrong spelling, I meant Xiaomi. Was typing late last night

Maybe but if you go to AliExpress, there are Xioami products to confuse consumers. Hence, my comment. I stand corrected.

    Xioami Mi Band 9

  • I was looking to get the Mi Band 9 after my Mi Band 8 broke ages ago. The strap for that also broke easily and had to get a couple replacements that I went through. Recently was looking through Youtube to find something that's affordable but accurate and good. Ended up with Huawei Watch Fit 3. So far so good, does the job and I feel like its better.

  • Fitbit, Garmin, Samsung & other smart watches, Apple watch, etc 🤷‍♂️

  • Just buy an old model like the 7?

I had the 7 but lost it swimming a few months ago so got the 8 and I actually find the better life better and the band to be more secure

  • OP do you have the Miband 8 Pro or the Miband 8?

I have a Miband 8 Pro it’s doing well with battery but now I’m worried.

one thing is for sure it charges very quickly I timed it once 35 mins from 50% to full. so sometimes I leave it on the charger sitting at 100% for longer than it needs to be maybe I shouldn’t do that.

    • Just the Mi Band 8. I'm going to buy the Pro as I've seen it has better reviews. Shame I've been a Mi Band 3 user. The 8 is the first time it didn't last long.

      • thanks kongkee.

I have been very happy so far with my Mi band 8 Pro. the screen is just the right size imo and the connection to the phone is solid, not only that they wireless range is great. I can be 2 rooms over away from my phone and still get notifications from the phone on the Mi band.

other than that I don't take most of the health accuracy seriously, but I watched a japanese youtuber test and actually count their steps to compare the Mi band 8 Pro did very well compared to even higher priced smart watches. 0.7% margin of error in step counting (only a few steps off). the ones that did bad were 2 to 3% margin of error (almost a hundred or over a hundred steps off).

I mainly got it as a device to notify me as an extension of my phone, and also for it's very helpful basic features such as timer. also there is no speaker on the device so I am never worried about it making sound and annoying/waking people. it just vibrates and I have never missed any notification even on the standard vibration (you can choose strong if you want).

        • should also say I think the new addition compared to all other Miband's is the 8 Pro has GPS.

don't really use it though because I know it consumes more battery. it's kind of a nice to have if I need it feature for me but not something I will use regularly.

forgot to finish my point above about the accurate step count. so yeah I don't think heart rate, sleep and blood oxygen are going to be that accurate from a $80 band. but at least the step count is very accurate which is the only thing I really like looking at.

also not sure if this is new but the auto brightness feature is great, not only does it function as power saving and extend battery life but it also keeps the OLED display always visible no matter what the environment. 60hz OLED as well so very very smooth to use.
so many useful small settings as well, like setting display>raise to wake schedule (doesn't wake the screen randomly during sleep), do not disturb schedule (no notifications during evenings), setting notification alert only when worn. all these also help to save battery which I think is very clever.
sorry if these are nothing new to you the Miband 8 Pro is my first Xiaomi band ever.

timer is a bit of a funny one though because after starting it keeps the screen on, but you can turn the screen off with the cover watch with hand gesture and the timer keeps running in the background. from then on you can raise to wake and check the timer, and it goes back to sleep by itself like normal.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: Hey I appreciate your reply. I was watching and reading reviews and additional info is helpful. Yes, all these features are about the same on the Miband 8. I've been using the mibands from gen 3. So it's just sad that the new one is not better than the old gens.

Hopefull the pro version is much better build quality. How much did you pay for yours? I ordered mine from Amazon Japan and it's around $85 AUD.

when reading up about things worse on the newer ones. I think up until Miband 7, pairing was with the older Zepp Life app which was apparently better for fitness. and the newer Mi Fitness app which I am using with Mi band 8 Pro has been criticized as worse than Zepp Life.
seems to be small things though such as the occasional bug (I haven't experienced any) and apparently fitness people aren't happy with the layout of the home screen where you see all your fitness stats but it looks and works just like any other smart watch app to me.

oh just remembered yeah initial pairing was a bit funny, like asked me to scan QR code on band screen, then didn't pair but asked me to do it manually or something and pairing request was successful. needed to do it twice and the watch appears twice in bluetooth settings on phone which I thought was unique but maybe that's why it has such a strong bluetooth connection and long range.

I got mine from amazon jp as well roughly $80. if it helps it's the global version so I just selected Australia in the app during setup and had zero problems. if you want to confirm it find the serial number on the box it should end with "GL" which means it's global model.
only complaint I have is the band is a bit tricky to put on your wrist the first few times, but it's probably the same band type as any other Mi band.
you kinda have to use one finger to pin down the side with the nipple thing on your wrist, then pull the longer side tight and push down on top of it and the nipple so it goes through, then tuck the rest in. I actually got a 3rd party band of a different color from aliexpress and it's softer silicone so easier to put on and off especially the tucking part at the end. I can recommend it the original band is a bit tougher silicone though so it will probably last longer.

here this is the one I got, identical design to original band just softer and many colours available (oh and I chose the "mi band 8 pro" option below colour). also the nipple part didn't end up being metal it's just black plastic but I don't mind because it's comfier and easier to put on than original. around $10 delivered because I don't shop much on ali anymore and didn't have time to bundle other items and apply discount codes.

  • I’m still using a mi band 4 for the purpose of a silent alarm but given how wildly inaccurate it is at everything have considered getting an Apple Watch based on this excellent YouTuber https://youtube.com/@thequantifiedscientist?si=vRChvPVz4oKEg… … the one think holding me back is how often I’d have to charge it .
