Historical low price.

Teardown is a voxel based sandbox game where instead of creating stuff, you simply go around destroying everything you see.

See 2kliksphilip videos on this game to see if this is the type of game you'll enjoy.

GTX 1080 graphics card or better recommended.

Description shamelessly copied from scrimshaw

  • For my steam deck homies, it actually played quite decently at least from the 2hrs I played before refunding it

      Didn't like it?

Maybe I just have short attention span, but the ‘heists’ were just getting more and more tedious with the time limit. There was the more ‘arcade’ modes, like get as much damage as possible, but just didn’t grab me as much as the heists mode I guess.

I realised after I filed refund request that the time limit can be extended! But I suspect it probably wouldn’t be as good with say a 3 minute limit.

Also wish the explosive weapons (bomb and rpg for example) more explosive? I filled a little warehouse with like 69 charges and then shot a rocket in, probably like 30 -40% of it was still standing and maybe 1/3 of the charges did not detonate as part of chain reaction. Maybe I was more expecting battlefield bad company or battlebit levels of destruction.

        • Fair enough. Cheers.

      • For me it was that it's not physics based. I can take out the bottom of a building and the rest remains floating.
I loved Red Faction Guerilla and Armageddon for it's destructive physics - a building will fall if weakened enough.

This game is just Minecraft but you destroy instead of build.

My opinion is based on the first campaign mission where you need to destroy a 6m house.

  • Not so sure a 1080 is considered "high end".

      True. Updated.

This game is under new management now, it was bought by Saber Interactive (which is owned by Embracer Group). If you follow gaming news, you know anything that Embracer Group touches basically gets axed. I think Embracer has laid off more than 2000 people, shut down more than 10 studios, and have abandoned 100+ IPs.

    • Oh, that's not good.
Surprisingly that subreddit is still quite active, so maybe it's not totally ruined.
I've had my eye on this game for a little while now. Not sure whether to pull the trigger. Your post pushes me in the nay direction. Thanks.

The game is still fun since there are tonnes of free mods in the workshop that you can still enjoy after beating the relatively short campaign.

It's a sandbox game but the developer's focus has changed from improving the game engine to just adding more and more DLC's to the game, basically riding on the game's success and turning it into a cash cow. I would just buy the base game and pretend none of the DLC's exist. The Season Passes are basically just Oblivion Horse Armor.

    • Ah wow that's unfortunate. I've owned this one for a while and it's fun to sandbox in for half an hour here and there. Here's hoping they don't ruin it too quickly.

  • I finished the campaign and enjoyed it.

The gameplay is more about pre-planning, knocking down walls, trees for bridges, vehicles setup in the right position and then nailing the perfect run.

There's some nice, varied gameplay as it progresses too, alarms, enemy robots, attack choppers etc.

Some untimed levels too which I enjoyed, such as finding a way to tow away parts attached to a boat etc.

    Fun game.
