I was fully ready to jump ship once I saw the email saying they're increasing the price on their mobile sim only plan and Optus Sport plan but then when I talked to their representative on the optus app they are able to give me quite a bit of discount.
I have been paying $24.9 on 30GB plus the $6.99 Sport for a year, and the representative tried to offer me a $32/m deal with data increase.
Told him not interested as Sport is also getting a price jacked and he lowered the deal to $27/m.
I was trying to take a piss and asked him what about $27 + free optus sport, ended up getting an offer for $22 for 50GB to compensate the increase for Optus Sport. I ended up taking the deal as I was going to switch to Woolies mobile at the same price with lower data. (although they offer a 10% off for groceries)
Point is if you wanna stick with optus sport, probably a good idea to talk to a representative and get a discount. YMMV though.

I think we had the same plan but mine was on a 12 month 50% off discount. They’re running a $39 deal on the $52 in the moment according to their website so you could probably at least get that
Wow you did well I was given a $10 discount for the first 12 months ($39), not 50% off!
I got on chat and was offered $10 discount again for another 12 months so down to $42/month. They couldn't do anything for Optus sport though, so might hit them up again in a few months to see what can be done.
$52 > $32 > $27 > $22
wow, well done :)
i only kept my $20 discount after asking if they could offer anything cheaper - probably should've searched beforehand to better negotiate, and not worry as much about losing my under-utilised free data sims :(
I only have a $20 mobile broadband plan and on requesting to cancel the other day they offered a $5 discount for 12 months.
Seems they are very keen to retain customers currently.
When I left Optus at the start of May, and ported out, a few days after they sent this email:
Hi CC123,
You deserve more and that's why we'd love to welcome you back. We understand you had your reasons for moving your service 04xxxxxxxx, but we want you to know we're committed to providing you with a great value plan and phone to suit your lifestyle.
Make the switch back to Optus and enjoy 50% off eligible SIM plan fees for 12 months.
It's easy to bring your number back to Optus. Speak to our dedicated team to see what we can do for you
No harm, in porting out in an attempt to get this email, and port back.
Did you call or spoke to the rep via the chat ?? I am in the same boat!!! Dont like optus but love optus sports!!

Thanks for sharing your experience, will ring up tomorrow to see what they can offer. My $49/month plan will be jacked to $52/month from Aug.
