  • Does anyone here use this brand for their Airtags? No matter what I use, my Airtags seem to be saying 'low battery' within 48 hours of changing batteries and then saying 'last seen X days ago' soon thereafter.

Just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a battery brand that is giving them good Airtag battery life?

    • Are the contacts inside dirty?

      • Hmmm could be! I'll try give em a bit of a clean and see if that helps if no one else seems to be experiencing what I am. Thx mate

        • I have been experiencing the same issue.

          Return them?

          • @Tardvark: Obviously if I could, I would but they're past the 1 year warranty period

    • +4

I use the cheapest chinese crap available on Amazon. 10 for $9.99. They seem to last for months.

      LiCB CR2032 3V Lithium Battery(10-Pack)

      • +4

I buy the Maxell 10-packs for a couple of dollars more. I generally get 12 months from them.

        • +1

Same, mine is made in Japan so thats the extra peace of mind there

        • Do you have link to Maxell 10-pack?

          • -1

@CodeXD: just search for 'Maxell 2032' on Amazon, it will come up

        • That brand has been counterfeit central for years by Chinese manufacturers. You can literally buy them for a couple of dollars for a 10 pack so I would be VERY hesitant buying them on eBay or from 3rd party sellers on Amazon.

I had this issue when I used the wrong model (can remember the model number) that’s smaller size but still worked.

Then I replaced it with the right model and it’s working perfectly again.

    • I had the problem with my meat thermometer, solved it taking the battery out and inserting it back only when needed. Now one battery lasts years

      • +3

Solid advice.. i will also remove the battery from my airtag and insert it back when needed :)

        • 😂😂😂

        • +2

I smelled sarcasm and I had to google what an airtag is. Yeah my method is not practical after all. But you can still buy a food thermometer now and be a battery pro 🤣

    • I had trouble with this brand once, from Amazon. I got a refund for them.
The Duracell ones so far have been good.

    • I've had good results with the duracell. It's tricky with coin cells as some are optimized for short bursts of power while others are optimized for low loads over long periods of time, but they don't tell you up front which is which. I generally avoid duracell because their AA batteries tend to leak, but with coin cells they seem to do it well.
The one I got from the supermarket measured 250mAh @ 3ma draw, whereas the ebay cells (the type you used to be able to get in packs of 100 for $5) ranged from 50mAh to 150mAh.

FWIW I've had the same experience with airtag, but I was trying to get away with using a 2025 and they just don't have the capacity. What the other commenter said is right: Clean both the contacts and the battery with a rag dipped in metho. The contacts in an airtag are so small that even a little grease will cause problems.

  • I need some 2032's - but there are also 10 packs on Amazon for $10-11

Are Energizer ones really worth double the price? Genuine question, I know nothing at all about batteries.

    • I use the cheapest chinese crap available on Amazon. 10 for $9.99. They seem to last for months.

      LiCB CR2032 3V Lithium Battery(10-Pack)

      • I've bought some cheap ones off eBay and they all lasted only a few days and/or were dead.

      • +1

        Technically they should last years

      • U said that chinese crap twice and u still keep buying it. Oh well..

    • For me, I think they are worth it, I got the SCA ones and they don't last long. But then again, these are also made in China but it claimed to have 10 years shelf life as per the box itself…

      • +2

I buy the Maxell's in a 10-pack, which are made in Japan. Last time I brought a heap when they were under $10. If they drop into the $12 range, definitely worth it. They do seem to last longer than the Chinese ones in my applications (Tile Pro, some home automation applications) getting about 12 months where the Chinese ones get 9-10 months.

Energizer is definitely not worth the price premium though.

        • +1

Yep I got the 10 pack Maxells last time I missed out on an Energizer deal and they have worked great.

        • Do you have any stats for Energizer Ultimate?

    • If you plan to use them all in a short time get a big pack, otherwise they will expire and you waste money

  • +1

    Godo price.

    Another option:
Pack of two will become $0.99 at JB, if you have a $10 perks coupon

  • Prime member only deal though right?

    • +1

Yep. Needs to be mentioned in title.

I buy from local $2 shop $2 for four.

    • I use Perks, Energizer Ultimate 2 pack for $0

  • Any deals for CR1620?

  • Deal Expired — Now $14.39 which sucks as I literally had it in cart to close out and it jumped.

  • +2

    Dinner sorted, Cheers!

  • Perfect timing, Outlander has been whinging to me over the last couple of weeks "key battery low".

  • Kmart is selling 4 CR2032 for $5.
