SIM-Only Mobile Plan $10 off for First 6 Months: Essential 180GB $62/Month, Premium 300GB $85/Month (Then $65, $85/Mo) @ Telstra

110
PROMO10

Note: I was wondering if this qualifies as a "bargain" or not, but it's a discount, so here goes:

$10/month off SIM-only Essential or Premium Upfront Mobile phone plans (New Services Only) from Telstra.

Note: it says new "services" instead of new "customers" so I'm wondering if this deal applies to current customers on a different plan, or just to new Telstra customers.

So for the first 6 months you get:

180 GB for $62/month (Essential plan).

300 GB for $85/month (Premium plan).

Edit: one thing I DO like about these plans is that they include 30 minutes of free calls AND unlimited SMS to all standard international numbers.

Unlimited SMS from Australia to standard international numbers in all destinations. 30 minutes of calls from Australia to any standard overseas number.

Excludes calls and texts to premium numbers, some satellite numbers and international use.

(By excluding "international use" I'm assuming they mean that it excludes free "roaming ").

    “New service”
Usually means port in from another carrier or a brand new number. KPI merchants.

Thanks. I was thinking something along those lines, but wasn't sure.

    nahh too expensive

    • Yeah, for me, it would be more of a "get in for 6 months, get the Gigs, then get out".

I'm guessing a lot of people would be doing that, rather than stay on for longer, since they can leave any time because (I think) it's not a contract plan.

  • What’s the difference between this Jb Hi-Fi plans? I was in store earlier today and overheard one of the staff telling a customer that Jb HiFi Premium Telstra plan will be phased out from tomorrow. Just wondering which plan is better.

      Exact same service.

Thanks! I might signed up with JB to get the voucher tomorrow !

They label it as "premium" but never include international calls and roaming data. It should have everything we need for a phone service.

I miss Telstra's $199 unlimited plan, which was truly a premium plan with no data limit and no speed cap, and 10GB data roaming.

The Telstra network seems oversubscribed these days.. not worth the significant extra $$$

Alot of companies are ridding on goodwill/reputation built over the years and cashing on it without trying to provide a better product.

  • So, with Cashback's $15 off SIM Only plans, that's just for the first month, right?

  • This is Telstra 5G.

Just a reminder Boost is the exact same coverage.

But can I earn Telstra Points on that plan as well ?

      • +12

You can save well more than your points would ever be worth.

  • If you have wifi at home and work, big data maybe not worth it unless you use huge amount of data outside home/work like big download or watch videos all day maybe, lol. Check your monthly mobile data only usage.

It's better if you buy yearly plan, even cheaper when it's half price + cashback :P

If you have dual sim card phone or 2 phones, even better buy second number mainly for data with 100% cashback or more like Amaysim or Boost Mobile sometimes someone inform :P

  • Currently having major issues with Jbhifi Telstra using hotspotting on my phone, having a 300g plan, it appears internet gets throttled when hotspotting and becomes unworkable, which is odd because the phone itself is fine.
Switching two devices to hotspot from (same sim) the issue is the same, but it works fine using Amaysim sim card.
Using a vpn seems to work which must be hiding the fact that im hotspotting.

Researching this it appears this is a USA trick to stop you using this as a hotspot and keep the data usage solely to your phone, im not surprised Telstra are doing this same tactic.
I was advised to buy a hotspot dongle from Telstra instead, but i shouldnt have to fork out more money for a feature that works with other sims.
5th ticket lodged with jbhifi and am tired of resetting setting each time.

Hopefully this isn't happening to others hotspotting through jbhifi phone plans (not data only plans) , technically work the same anyway

    • Telstra has always been doing this. You cant even use a phone sim card in an mobile broadband device, it wont work at all.

      • That would explain why putting VPN on the phone often works.
JBHifi support "We can assure you this isn't the case"…

        • No issue on mine. Have both jb and teslstra plans and recently moved the JB plan to Boost.

    • If you're hot spotting to a computer, you can adjust the computer's default TTL value from 64 to 65 to make the traffic look like it's passed through one less router, therefore give you the same speed as your phone. Not 100% sure Telstra checks this. Try google "hotspot change ttl".

      • Thanks, will give it a go

yeah, $62 or $85 for a phone service is no bargain…

    • +1

This. There are very few reasons why anyone would need full 5G speed on their phone.

  • OP claims 85 - 85 = 10
