Custom Snow Jacket Suggestions

Hi all,

I'm in the market for 2 adult (and maybe 1 child) custom snow jackets as a gift for a major milestone. Does anyone have experience with scoping or purchasing custom snow jackets and have suggestions/recommendations?

The trip is later in the year to expectedly so there is plenty of time. We'd initially use it for general travelling in snowy locations at apparently -20degC and later for skiing/snowboarding in years to come.

Not sure what other considerations I should have. Previously we wore "branded" rainproof jackets with heaps of layers underneath. It worked but it wasn't as cold (maybe -10degC).

Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Which features of the jackets need to be bespoke?

    • Ability to put custom text/words on the back and probably style/colour options for areas of the jacket.

Thinking a bit more, chances are (as I read on some other forums) buying a jacket then getting text added may be simpler/better value.

Have you customised this kinda gear before?

No, but you'll get better advice by making your post clearer. I reckon you'll pay an astronomical amount to customise a multi-layer multi-component waterproof garment. I don't believe any hard shell jackets are made here so you may need to get this done overseas.

    -20 degrees in Australia?

Arc'teryx if you've got money to burn. When being active you do want your clothes to be breathable - arm pit vents are very helpful.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bad idea ? Some are very particular about expensive gear/ tools etc..

They may end up not using your gear at all

    • In this case they will for sure so I'm not worried. In all other instances I'd follow your advice.

Just buy a good quality snow jacket then take it to the embroiderys and get names and or logo done by them.

    • Thanks for reinforcing an idea that came up which seems to be the easiest.
