    Via Haikou

    Airplane on the ground
Spare parts stuck at gate fifteen
    Here we go again…

  • Great poster design.

  • +7

Obvious use of AI generated art which is a bit sad to see.

    • +1

A poster of Hainan Chicken & Rice, that would be memorable.

      • +2

I went to Hainan once many years ago, no chicken rice, it was hard to find, better off going to Malaysia or Singapore.

    • Nah it's real, I've been there

  • +3

    Of course no BNE

    • +4

Only China Southern and China Eastern flies into BNE. In comparison there's 8 chinese airlines flying into Sydney

  • -2

The AI image usage is really sad. Not that it matters, but you instantly lost me as a customer because of it.

    • +4

What's wrong with using AI image? Genuinely curious because isn't that just progress like moving from typewriter to computer, candle to lightbulb, film camera to digital camera(and now smartphone).. etc

      • -3

None of those examples involved ripping off artists who spent hours doing creative work. To generate garbage like people with 4 arms in the last image I saw on their site.

Then companies not wanting to pay someone to actually create some decent art for their site.

    • +3

Someone whinging about AI image probably isn't a consumer most companies would want, let's be frank.

      • -2

I had platinum Qantas before Covid. So I used to fly a ton.

Granted I usually bought directly from the airlines and didn’t have a need for a site like this anyway.

    • +4

Why? Having a human drawn image doesn't really add any values to the deal and the cost of it will end up getting passed to the consumers one way or another.

      • You do you. I’ll continue to avoid using AI on my projects and hire real people for the work.

        • +1

Ok 70 years old boomer not ready to retire yet.

          • -3

@sauce2k: No retirement yet. But while I run my businesses, I’ll keep hiring real people to do real shit.

Not some no talent, brainless monkeys that put a few words into a prompt and can’t even use their two brain cells to check the output for the garbage that’s generated.

    • +7

I don't like AI arts either, but it's an airline not a gallery. For $400 return ticket on a non-budget airline, I won't care if a dog drew the poster.

      • +2

It's not an airline, it's an online travel aggregator lol
MORE reason to not waste money on creatives

  • +2

    Hi @beatthatflight
Any deal for flights to Haikou itself?

  • +3

Hainan Airline's services and airplanes are way better than those of other Chinese airlines and Cathay Pacific.

    • +2

They fly A330s from Syd/Mel which are pretty old. The seating and space is pretty good, but the entertainment system is crappy

  • +2

For $800 you can upgrade to business too. Bargainnnn

    • One way upgrade I assume? And at the counter?

      • Yep

        • I presume we still get economy class food even if upgraded to business?

  • How can I find those flights with the least amount of hours from Sydney, I’m assuming nothing is direct? Just want to try and avoid a 18-24 hour journey with layovers due to feral children lol

  • I'm now like an idiot purchased RRP CX Hong Kong return few months back.

    • +1

      I'm now like an idiot

Thanks for subsidising for the rest of us :-D

  • Anyone able to find a better deal to get to Guanzghou for a week this month, flexible dates? Best I can find is 1200!

  • -1

Hello OzBargain, i would like to block this user so I can stop seeing ugly AI art, thank you!

  • Does anyone know the best/ cheapest way to do a longer stopover at Hainan before flying to the intended destination?

  • does anyone know if we need to collect luggage ourselves for the transfer in Haikou? Both in and out of Haikou.

    • According to trip.com yes. Looks like it's normal in China despite having both legs in one booking.

  • brissssssy??????
