Clutch Replacement Quotes for Nissan Dualis

Hello fellow OzBargainers, I'm not very car savvy and a bit out of the loop on mechanic costs.

Got some quotes in the ballpark of $3000-$3400 for a full clutch replacement due to a slipping clutch in my 2011 Nissan Dualis. Looking at full AWD clutch kits online the prices range from $440-$1500. I understand it's a big job that involves a lot of parts being moved around but the labour cost seems very expensive.

Is this a reasonable price or what would be more reasonable price I should expect?

Many Thanks

This is a reasonable price. Shop probably charging around 10 hrs labour at $120 p/h plus consumables.

IF you think you can do it yourself, then go ahead and save some $$$ :)

        • Have seen him benchpress the transmission in whilst lining up the splines, crazy stuff. When i replaced the clutch on my car i was absolutely knackered. Dont know how he does it everyday.

    • Def dont have the tools or the know hows to do it my self haha, cheers!

As it's a Nissan if you fix the clutch something else will go wrong. Might be time to trade it in.

    • You're right, defs something to consider.

He's no help at this time of year, he's on holiday in Bali mate. Gonna pick up some cheap ciggies and booze at the duty free on the way back as well.

I saw a mechanic loose his nut on youtube about how stupidly and pathetically engineered/deisgned the clutch placement in the xtrail/dualis is
have also read that a lot of mechanics will not touch this job as its just a total PITA, iirc ~$3K+ sounds about right

PSA: never buy a nissan they are the worst of the jap cars, they never recovered from their financial downfall 20 years ago
