Fitbit Charge 6 $209.95 Delivered @ Google Store ($199.45 Price Beat @ Officeworks)

80

As part of the Google Store’s EOFY sale, the Fitbit Charge 6 is down to $209.95. I also managed to get a price beat at Officeworks, bringing it down to $199.45, which seemed like a great price.

Sadly, Google is slowly but surely killing the fitbit brand.

When it comes time to replace my fitbit sense it will not be another fitbit device, which is sad as I have owned fitbit devices for over 10 years…

    • It's nothing different to what Fitbit did to Pebble. If pebble was still alive, I would buy that over any other

      • Still use my Pebble Time Steel quite regularly. It's what a smart watch really should be.

        • Yeah I have mine too, it's running an off market firmware. I can't remember who the developer is but they picked up development after pebble stopped

    • Videos killed the radio star.. and so on.

Noticed the PC Dashboard is gone now. Wasn't fully functional anyway compared to the app and clunky - no great loss but people like to complain about things.

People, you don't need premium either (but I always use the free 6 months when I get a new device)..

  • I have a Charge 5 that sits in the drawer because of the ridiculously high subscription price. I use a Samsung watch now that i bought heavily discounted, no ongoing subscription cost

I have a Charge 5 and I don't pay the subscription, it's optional. The subscription only gives you workout videos and sessions, recipes, and some extra sleep metrics, absolutely not worth it. The device is perfectly usable without a subscription.

Just get a Garmin like most OzBargainers with no ongoing subscription fees. Or a Samsung if not fussy on battery life.

Fitbit as a brand is gasping at it's last breaths. Ugly looking things too (I know subjective).

Most Garmin are high end smartwatches while Fitbit are simple fitness trackers. You can't compare the two. The fitness trackers from Garmin lack features and are more expensive compared to Fitbit.

It may be smaller in size, but why would someone spend $200 on this when they could get a Google Pixel Watch for the same price?
    I don't get it !

I think one of the biggest draws is multiple day battery life. A big plus when you dont want all the other smartwatch features just health metric tracking

      • Totally agree. I don’t need a smartwatch, just a fitness tracker, except that since a firmware update and the horrible app updates, the Charge 5 is perfect for what I use for.

The sleep metrics are what I am after so I pay the stupidly high $130/year subscription.

If I could find a Garmin that did the same in the page price range, I might switch. But all the Garmin’s I’ve looked at are $600-$900 and are full on watches, my Fitbit Charge 5 and I was going to buy the Charge 6 but I couldn’t justify the minor changes for the price. At $200 if Google still over the 2 year warranty for that then I might upgrade.

I thought Google bought Fitbit to get the software side of things and then put all their efforts into the Pixel Watch / 2 but since that only works properly on Android and my daily driver is iPhone 14 Pro, I like the Pixel Watch 2, but the battery life isn’t long enough.

        Suggestions anyone please?

        • Dont you get most of the sleep metrics baring the readiness score and "you slept like x animal" without premium?

  • i would not recommend any fitbit due to its poor quality

    • What model do you have and how often do you use it it please?

The Charge 5 was a huge step up from the 4 and the Charge 6 is a minor step up from the 5.

My first was the Charge 3. I cannot comment on other models like the Sense.

But the Charge used to be spot on, then Google bought them, and has since gone down hill mostly because of their smartphone software and after a firmware update put out in 2023.

As for built quality, I wear mine every day, slipped over on some wet grass and broke broke one band clip on a Charge 5, 20 months into 2 year warranty and they replaced it no problem.

Either Google Sydney is incredibly slow or they shipped it from the USA, though it says Google / Fitbit Sydney on the packing list

I had to try to use an elastic band to hold my broken one together, but two weeks for a replacement was an awfully long time to wait for the replacement, then, they shipped it to me with the wrong band, even though they clearly could see it was the Infinity Band!

Tell me your quality story please?

      • both charge 3 and charge 4 went broker after 1 year or so
