All refurbished models may have 3rd party parts

    Reason enough to avoid

The words Kogan and 12 month warranty already did that for me.

"Pixel 6" did that for me.

If it won't affect the performance, it won't really matter to me when I don't want to pay 1k for a phone. Says I can get a 2 yo flagship for under $400 and resell for roughly the same price every 2 years. I'd go this path.

refurb android phones are pointless, just buy a new equivalent its gonna be the same price.

Buying a refurbished flagship phone is substantially cheaper than buying a mid-range phone brand new, and you still usually get better SOC and almost certainly better cameras.

yeah but you'll get far less software update lifetime, which isn't great for security

        • +1

But Pixel phones will have longer support. 6 will get security updates until at least October 2026. 8 and later will get 7 years and more. For under $400, it's the bang for the buck.

  • Anyone know what there returns are like? (for change of mind)

    • Description says they're 'unable'.

      • aah, guess I should've done some reading. I just searched for "return" and only got 1 hit 🙃

    How?

  • I recently bought a Pixel 6 128Gb refurb via eBay (GreenGadgets store) for a family member who needed a decent quality phone for cheap. It was less than $300 and had a 30 day satisfactory money back guarantee and a 12 month warranty, and included Express Post. It arrived in a couple of days and was exactly what I expected.

No need to have a subscription, or deal with a company like Kogan who are notoriously bad with warranty returns.

This is not a great deal by any stretch of the imagination.

    • $300 is a good deal. Do you still have the link? A quick Google showing $300-$479 depending on grades. This states as Google factory refurb while most of the rest is seller refub.

No one posted this here before from my quick scan so this is a deal until we have a better deal next post :)

      • This was the listing: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175503817186 but it seems to be sold out (big surprise).
There was also an eBay coupon that reduced the price by a further 20%.

I don't really care about who does the refurb since it has the same warranty regardless, and a 30 day money back guarantee means I can confirm the actual condition before accepting it.

In most cases, refurbished phones are just going to get a thorough cleaning and testing regime rather than replacing parts.

        • 43 sold and $369 still good for excellent conditions. They need to buy in for under $300 to resell for cheap.

I think Kogan might have a connection to Google factory if so they can get more stock. Say because people change of mind and return and Google resell them as refurb. That would be very much as new. Similar to Bose refurb headphones idk.

  • 6a was $369 brand new for a long time at kogan, imo was better value

    • Unlike 8 and 8a, Pixel 6a only comes with 12MP Camera while 6 has 50MP.
