  • Haven't been following S3 prices lately but I have a feeling that this one is cheap.

    • Cheapest 4G model yet.

      • Nope. $549 plus shipping is cheapest.

        • link? was that she shopping square one? i dont really trust them tbh - a lot of Ozbargainers have had problems

        • +1

Was $549 from Unique Mobiles. Black only though.

        • Black's all you need for the Super Nexus

          Shame that had to end…

$599 is lowest, but still too high for this overpriced phone… 4G and 1GB extra ram really worth the $150?

        • If you have used the S3 3G version then you would know that the extra 1GB is definitely worth it as 1GB of ram is useless on the S3 3G. It constantly redraws the home screen and apps doesn't stay in the background when multitasking.
I'm waiting for the price to drop a bit more before swapping to the 4g version purely for the 2GB ram.

Any chance of a special for the Note 2 (N7100)?

  • Very happy with my purchase of a Galaxy s3 from Unique Mobiles. Speedy service :) Only a 3G model though. I dont think you really need 4g unless you use the Internet alot.

  • When it comes to 3G vs 4G, it depends on what you're after - faster internet or longer lasting batteries.
The 4G models have mediocre battery life but very fast internet potential, and the 3G models have better battery life and slower internet (but still considered pretty fast)

    • does the battery life of the 4G model improve if you turn off the 4G, or if you're in a 3G area?

      • im guessing it will always search for the 4G thus using the battery. but you may be able to manually turn it on/off?

      • Yes. If you turn the 4G radio off, you won't be using 4G therefore your battery won't die as fast. I'm waiting for the LTE Note II from Kogan. Hopefully it still delivers a work day's worth of battery life even on 4G.

Setting>Network> switch GSM/WCDMA from GSM/CDMA/LTE to switch off your LTE & conserve battery

      • The 4G model has a totally different chipset, and it's the new phone chip that drains the battery quicker. Even if you turn off 4G and only use 3G, the battery life will improve but not significantly (as it's the same chip doing both 3G and 4G).

    • It's not always as black and white as that. If you've tried to use 3G on Telstra during working hours in the Melbourne CBD, it's not pretty fast, it's pretty non-existent. It's over-saturated and does not work a lot of the time. Optus still churns out about 0.8Mbps - 2Mbps during these hours but Telstra is bad. Outside of these hours and outside of the CBD, Telstra works great.

      Here's a Screenshot of a speedtest I just did 3 minutes ago: http://imgur.com/C1BeX

That's Telstra NextG on Galaxy Nexus. I gave up on the upload after waiting a minute on 0%.

      • only to be expected really, with everyone using its service at the same time in the one area

        • Yes that's the problem. I'm afraid with the popularity of the iPhone, and with the 5th one having LTE that Telstra's 4G might go that way soon as well.

  • Where's the cutthroat s3 non-4g pricing gone?

Just want a cheap 16gb.. preferably au stock.

    • AU stock - try mobile citi

Don't forget the upgrade to 2gb RAM on the 4G model.

    • i read something similar for the 4G Note II ?

      • Yep I think that's also right.

      • Same for all Note II model to date.

  • i was thinking of getting the telstra frontier 4g for 299 coming out on 27th this month as temperory 4g phone, till the s4 comes out sometime next year than it will be my backup phone, hopefully the s4 4g varient will have better battery life than the s3 4g

    • just wait a week and buy a nexus 4 for $399. That way, you'll have no regrets

      • +1

Who knows how long you'll be waiting for the Nexus 4. Probably be Christmas before you can get one.

Plus the Nexus 4 is not 4G/LTE.

      • yeah but the only reason I want to buy a new phone is because of 4g, since its so easily available at the moment even on prepaid, if it wasent for 4g i would stick with my current htc desire hd, nexus is a nice phone but no 4g kills it for me:(

      • AND the N4 doesn't have a removable battery or SD card expansion.

  • Pardon my limited information on 4G SIM, so you guys all get the 4g SIM from telstra on your BYO 4G phones? I know on Optus you have to get "special treatment" before you can use 4G. Not sure the story of Telstra. Please share?

    • +1 would love to know more about this if anyone happens to know :)

      • Telstra F&F SIM works on 4G just fine, despite it saying it's 2G/3G.

  • you can now get 4g on prepaid, with telstra and optus.
lets say you recharge 30 on telstra, you get $30 credit, 250 calling credit, free calls and texts from 6pm to 6am and 400mb of data, you can increase that to 1.3gb by using the $30 dollar credit to purchase data packs wich give you extra data.

  • Just a word of warning, I'm sure its a rarity. But don't expect Unique to help you if you don't receive your item!

  • I called customer support for Telstra and Optus and only Tesltra are offering 4G on all 4G/LTE phones, while Optus 4G/LTE will only work on the Iphone 5 unless they have updated since yesterday.

  • Can anyone see a reason not to buy it for $570.47 on eBay instead?

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-S-III-S3-i9305-4G-…

    • Not sure why you neg'd the UM deal for an ebay ad.

One benefit (to some) in purchasing locally is receiving an Aussie Tax Invoice to claim the extra GST as a tax deduction.

      • I didn't mean to neg it - but I can't figure out how to retract it!
