The specs sound really good to me for the price. However I will assume the build quality/KB/Flex/Screen wobble etc. will be sub-par.
Considering the price, perhaps these are reasonable trade-offs?
Any thoughts, or other recommendations in the $700-$900 budget range?

Why would that be the case? Aluminium build, won't feel super cheap or have lots of keyboard wobble (if any).
Good battery size and decent screen spec, not big or bulky either so it's not a bad price
More than adequate for Yr 11/12 student, should last a good while into uni too
