  • Taubmans is one of the cheaper brands. Not a bad thing, it's just the nature of cheaper paints. You'll need maybe 3 or 4 coats for it to look good.

      Incorrect there Mate.

Every Paint supplier has a cheaper range. This is Taubmans Trade Range, Taubmans Flagship interior low sheen is the Endure.

      Taubmans Endure 15 Litre $254.90
Dulux Wash and Wear 15 Litre $265.50

Wouldn't exactly call Taubmans Cheap Paint.

      Taubmans products are fantastic quality.

      • I bought Taubmans to paint my window frames. It was alright. Happy with the results. Had to do a few coats, but was still happy.

        • Did you use an undercoat and was the Paint tinted?

So many variables for why it may not have covered.

Thanks for your personal experience, but Taubmans is definitely not one of the cheaper brands.

          • @paintmate: Got it. Apologies for my incorrect assumption.

@BadGiraffe: No stress mate, not a dig at you either.

              Have a great day

I haven't bought from these guys before but have been using Tradex to paint the ceilings for all my projects, never have a problem.

      • Next time you need paint, give us a try!

  • brought from this group painting around the house. Great price, any idea why masking tape has gone up in price?

    • Thanks for your previous order mate!

I don’t think we have put any masking tape prices up in the last 18 months.

I could do these for you for $4.50 a roll if it helps?

      36mm x 50m

      Thanks mate!

    • Seems like there are distribution problems for certain ranges (or at least that’s what I was told for the 3M purple stuff, which seems to be their most expensive). Lack of supply = higher prices.

Many years ago, I did a tour of the Taubmans factory and the filling line was changing from the premium brand to the Tradex and i asked what about the formulation for the paint. They told me they just swap the can for that particular paint (can't remember what it was) and no formulation change was made.
You have to remember if it is being marketed to the trade they don't want any call backs and don't care about the product price.

I can imagine that trying to save a few hundred dollars by using an inferior product would often end up costing them thousands in lost time (and extra product) if they have to go back and re-do a job or part of a job, so the trade stuff would be reliable with repeatable results.

Do you have an appropriate primer to go with this? Ill need to paint over and cover Dulux Theatre black and Dulux Grid feature walls in a Lexicon Half / Quarter colour.

  • Saw a big 15L tin of TradeX in the back of a painter’s van on the way home this afternoon and was thinking that it’s a pretty good endorsement when you see the pros using it.

Some people seem to crap on trade paints, but TradeX seems to have great reviews, even from DIYers.

    • Nothing wrong with tradex at all. It's not antibacterial or asthma council approved likt the Taubmans Pure Performance. But bang for your buck, it's a great product.
