Yamaha 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker Pack (NSP330PKG) Matte Finish $1577 + Delivery ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ Harvey Norman

40

This finishes tonight so only available for click and collect or delivery now. Claim saving is $418. A bit hard to compare as I couldn't find any other retailers that sell this but if you were to buy each component separately this seems like a good deal.

They also have this Yamaha NS51 Series 5.1 Channel Speaker Package system that has been posted on Ozbargain before for $777 https://www.harveynorman.com.au/yamaha-ns51-series-5-1-chann…

  • Doesn't seem like bad pricing…. the front towers are selling for around $1500 a pair just themselves.

Haven't listened to them, but on paper at least the specs aren't bad!

    • -1

the subwoofer is ok by itself… its a $600 ask

but really i mean… the towers are dual 5" which is kind of… not great… and i think the construction all round isnt $1k worth

does anyone really buy Yamaha speakers???

      buy speakers from speaker makers

      • @tonyjzx - “does anyone really buy Yamaha speakers???” I’ve seen several comments over the last 6 months or so from 1 or more individuals claiming that their Samsung/Sono/Bose or whatever soundbar outputs superior audio quality compared to their older Yamaha 5.1 speaker+sub+avr separate audio component setup, and your question is exactly what I wonder when I read it, as well as if it’s what they have compared to their soundbar and if you’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that their previous Yamaha 5.1 speakers were positioned well and the avr was calibrated well, then it’s not much of a surprise that that’s been their experience. Putting a soundbar up against a 5.1 separate audio component setup and claiming the sound is superior from the soundbar is an unlikely outcome in the majority of cases, but if they were using Yamaha speakers then that’s one rare circumstance when I might believe them.

        • it kind of depends how fussy you are

if really amazing system where you've spent $5k plus on an atmos 7.2 setup is going to be very different to a soundbar or whatever is being sold here

charitiably i'd say yamaha amps and surround receivers deserve better speakers than this kind of thing

          • @tonyjzx: Most people that choose a soundbar are not fussy about audio in general and aren’t overly knowledgeable about audio equipment and settings it all up well.

One issue that I also regularly see when someone says they have compared a soundbar to a separate audio component setup is their comparison wasn’t like for like, a 2.1 soundbar should be compared to a 2.1 seperate audio component setup, a 5.1 soundbar should be compared to a 5.1 seperate audio component setup, and a Dolby Atmos soundbar should be compared to a 7.2.4 seperate audio component setup, however even with disregarding that the person likely hasn’t positioned their 5.1 speakers and calibrated the setup well an essentially entry level 5.1 seperate audio component setup shouldn’t be compared to a Dolby Atmos soundbar.

            • @Cevolution: i think you will always find soundbars are 'set and forget'

even a 5.1 system requires some setup as far as receiver, room placement etc.

like you know, reading the manual, setting speak cutoff, level, rollling in subs to the main speakers

  • Yamaha is not just one of the best speaker makers but also a whole musical instruments maker.
It is not a TV, SSD, calculator, phone, or camera maker.
If it is Yamaha, it is Yamaha. Buy with confidence. NS51 seems better value/cost than the other.

    • Is that you

  • This is a fine safe system but given depreciation of hifi gear you can pick up some absolute bargains on gumtree/marketplace.

I fitted out my atmos system with a pioneer amp b&w and focal speakers for $1500. I think retail was close to $5500
