      And?

    • +5

you can't drive them oneway, and unless your trip is going to be less then a couple of hours, the Skybus would be cheaper

  • How much is it normally?

    • +1

      I think it's around $37 return normally?

      • +3

How is it still going up?

It was $33 return not long ago.

We need a damn rail link what a scam for a seat on a bus

        • I wonder if anyone will still take Skybus once the rail link is built?

          • @Mondorock: They might run outside the rail link hours, but honestly I'm sick of the monopoly they have.

It's the same in Launceston the is no alternative except private vendors or having a car.

            • @Telios: Auckland airport has no rail link either. Probably not essential to have a rail link to Melb or any airport as long as affordable buses are provided.

              • +1

@Mondorock: $20 is not affordable lol. In LA, a trip on the metro from LAX to downtown or the surburbs costs $1.75 USD.

                • @bruceclipse: Exactly.

The friggin NEX bullet train in Japan is basically the same price as this scam bus and it's 10 times cooler, nicer, and faster.

And because they're a private company they are just going to keep increasing the price exponentially.

                  What's the breaking point $40? $50?

Tell me you haven’t been on the Skybus without telling me you haven’t been on the Skybus.

        • +3

It's really not. They know what route to take to avoid any low bridges. I haven't ever heard of a SkyBus hitting a bridge and they run dozens a day, everyday of the year.

          • @Grannular: This. Even with the new route they’re started taking within the last year, it’s a non-issue

        • +2

Oh, but I had to, because it’s fear-mongering and not true, as pointed out by Grannular. So not a valid concern at all when it comes to Skybus.

Source: Have been using Skybus (unlike you) for the past decade.

    • They have now figured out which route to take which bypasses the low bridges so the route can be traveled safely. Yes at the beginning it was carnage until they figured which bridges to avoid.

One guy snuck on board at Melbourne station and we all had to leave the bus as he sniggered aggressively to everyone as we all had to depart the bus and get onto the next one. staff ignored him and called the police, seems people enjoy wasting everyones time as i was told this happens infrequently

    • -6

Hmm, calling the police because of someone sniggering? lol. What exactly is the crime?

      • +3

        Eating a succulent Chinese meal

        • You assured him that he could speak

      • Crime was not paying and forcing passengers to disembark over threatening of assault because he can, all the while with a classic smile, also smelling like feet and BO (which should be a crime) :D

        • Ok, you left out the part about him threatening assault.

          • +1

@Mondorock: Just a daily occurrence of crazies walking around Melbourne cbd hahaha

            • -2

@Headless: That's public transport for you. But hey, this new airport rail link is going to solve all the problems!

            • @Headless: Police station is right there at southern cross. I doubt he just got out from airport?

              • @askbargain: was trying to board at Southern Cross, probably just got released

  • Why Agoda asking for date selection as Skybus tickets must be valid for certain period of time and can be use whenever you like..?

  • -2

Does Skybus still go all politically woke and do the "Aboriginal sovereignty was never ceded" speech over loudspeakers at the beginning of each ride?

    • +1

No, but they do have multicoloured busses supporting their stance on lgbtzrxyz

      • +1

Their CEO is a WEF member so makes sense.
