TPG Mobile Any Good? Vodafone?

I am looking to join other mobile provider because of existing mobile plan rising. I found TPG offer $15 per month for the first 6 months, then $30 per month.

Anyone knows how the reception and performance is? I go to Hurstville regularly for grocery and that place have poor reception with my Telstra sim.

Seeing all the bad review, I am now considering Vodafone.

TPG is just Vodafone. In any significant urban area it's going to get down to whether you have something close to line of site to the relevant tower.

In the major cities, any one provider should be as good as any other, but localized black spots might be a thing depending on where the specific tower is located and what's between you and that tower.

If you're having trouble with Telstra, there's no reason why you shouldn't give a Vodafone retailer a go and see if you can do better.

If there's a specific building or address you want to check to find out where the nearest towers are you can find that out here https://www.rfnsa.com.au/

Omg I will be able to die happily if I can warn just one person off TPG mobile. The vodaphone reception may be ok, but I can't tell you, because their customer service is sooo bad I was unable to get them to activate the card I bought - money now written off in the name of keeping my sanity intact. Check the productreview ratings and you'll see what I mean. https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/tpg-mobile

Okay, you can die now. You got my attention, I have decided to find another company after you pointed out the poor service. Probably Vodafone.

They're one of the few providers who still charge a port out fee

I was just going to say, like 10-15 years ago they tried to sting me with the port out fee and that $20 deposit. Never signed up for anything from that company ever since

  • I feel like any wholesaler which offers really cheap service are going to be terrible.

But there are few exceptions.. I’ll let the experts guide you and also how is circles life? Is it really worth the enquiry on credit check ?

    • Yes, some are fine - I never had any real problems with Boost or Aldi. TPG was just next level bad

  • every mobile network can have it's black spots, but Telstra is generally the best, and by the odd chance vodafone/optus might be better at one particular spot, it will be much worse in many other spots! so unless its your home I would avoid others. i tried Lebaba which is vodafone, and was garbage. good luck!
