When Is It Worth to Upgrade to an eBay Store? @ eBay Australia

Hi Bargainers!

Just doing some selling on eBay and was wondering if anyone has a chart/table which indicates how much in sales a month would be worth it to upgrade to a store plan?

It'll save some work for me doing the calculations. Thanks for contributing!

Depends on category. For me I am in Tier 4, which has the highest fee percentage so this will be the ultimate minimum.

I was getting about $1000 revenue per month when I first switched and I thought it would be worth it but it wasn't. This was because even though the seller fee percentage is reduce, GST of 10% is still charged on the fees itself (unless GST registered), making the difference very negligible.

Both with and without subscription you're still paying the $0.3 per order.

Doing some math, if the original fee is 13.4% and the new fee is 11.9% + 10% of that, the new fee is 13.09. This makes a difference of 0.31%, meaning you'd need to make $8048 in revenue per month to start saving that $24.95.

The real way you start saving money is by using something called Top Rated Plus, which if you qualify for, you would save quite a bit more money. It basically gives you a 10% discount after the original 10% GST, so your fees would be 11.78. Doing the same math, you'd need to make $1540 in revenue.

I'm a little sleepy so sorry if it sounds like a ramble and I might be wrong but I think the number you're looking for is $1540 per month in sales

I sell about $5k per month and have opted not to open a store.

    • Last time I had a look, I would need to register for GST. I don't want the hassle of that. ATO lets you sell $75k per year without registering

    • Discounts vary. Some categories have fees reduced from 13.4% to around 10. Okay, nice. But others barely scratch 1%.

    • Store sellers cannot use the 0% fee offers available every month. Sure the max discount is now just $25, but it still counts.
