½ Price: Steggles Korean Chicken Wing Nibbles 1 kg $6.50 @ Select Coles Stores

310

In-store only Steggles Korean Style Chicken Wing Nibbles 1 kg $6.50 @Coles in certain branches.

Check your Coles app in your location. I bought this from Coles Broadway, Sydney. Around the City, also available in Coles Surry Hills and Coles Edgecliff from checking the Coles app. Not available in Coles World Square or Coles Pyrmont for example.

If you check Coles online, it's still normal price at $13.

The price in Coles Broadway is still showing at $13 today when I was there.

$6.50/kg for nibbles still seems pretty steep

    • +6

Coles raw whole chicken is $5.5/kg. Coles raw chicken wing nibbles is $9/kg.

This Steggles Korean style chicken wing nibbles is cheap at $6.5 / kg.

It's cheaper to buy Steggles at half price promotion anyway. People can use oven or airfryer for this (on the packaging).

      • -1

You do realize that the nibbles are not 100% chicken right ? The composition is only 65% chicken for each nibble which essentially means that its only 650gm of chicken and steggles buy chicken in bulk and hence get it for dirt cheap. Considering that, the price is still a bit steep but from a pure consumer point of view I agree it is a decent price.

        • +5

You are right, 65% chicken, 26% Korean style coating etc.

I don't want to pay full price for this. I don't want to handle raw only chicken too. This Steggles is for convenience and taste :P

        • +2

You realise that making the coating and getting it ready to fry, as well as the packaging etc cost money, right? $6.50 a kilo in today's world is dirt cheap, regardless of the fact that it isn't 100% chicken.
Paid $6.50 for a babycino at a cafe in Freshwater today!! But that's shame on me.

          • @Mr Frodo: Maybe Coles think too many stocks haven't been sold and want to clear the stock for something else.

Other varieties like Steggles Habanero chicken wings or Steggles Frozen Flaming chicken wing nibbles are $9.99 / kg down from $11.5 on April 2024

  • Are these raw chicken inside? kinda like the Tegels portions? Or more like a processed/minced nugget type of thing?

    • +1

Yes, it's raw and need to be fully cooked (can use oven or airfryer). You can see the ingredients from the second image from Coles link above or in the app.

  • Apparently $1.63 at my local… wtf. Might have to go and have a look tonight.

Doesn't say "reduced to clear" like yours, just says "special" in the app.

    • So cheap … "Limited edition" on the packaging and mine shows best before is 24 Sept 2025

      Which City/town are you in?

      • Ballina NSW. Got the last one. They also had these for $0.88 (which they had 2 left, I got one and let a staff member buy the other).

  • Still have about 5 packs left at Hornsby Coles, it's on bottom shelf, no price label, but scanned as 6.50 fine. Thanks!

PS Coles app say it's at end of aisle 14/15 but it wasn't it was with all the other frozen chicken section on aisle 14 (half way down).

  • $13 in Penrith Nepean and nothing in stock nearby stores. Last time I bought the Steggles Flaming wing nibbles I was very disappointed….nothing spicy about them at all, almost the same as the normal ones. I put in a complaint about it…..nothing….they obv don't care about customer complaints

    • Coles Penrith (station st and reserve st): $6.5 maybe check different aisle if available.

      • ok, I was checking on the website for pricing. I wasn't in store

        • The packaging says Mild for the spicy level.

          • @neoleo: the word "flaming" is sort of is a misnomer then?…just checked it says HOT on the bottom of the bag and 2 chillies showing out of 4…. the new habenero are showing as 3 chillies

            • @souths123: Maybe the guy who put the word "flaming" is not asian. A lot of "spicy" food in western countries are not that spicy in my opinion, maybe only in certain asian made food or certain asian restaurants.

              • @neoleo: but I used to buy them years ago, and they were a bit spicy, this batch not at all. I didn't want to get the Habanero just in case they were too spicy, and I like spice, but I had read some people thought they were hot without much flavour, so went with the flaming ones…..mistake

Ingleburn Coles hid stock when it was still $13 and labelled "limited stock" to give impression it was running out.

    • The packaging says "Limited edition"

  • Does anyone know if they taste any good? My coles have been trying to flog them for weeks at half price , surely if they were half decent they would fly off the shelves

    • +1

If you don't like the taste, just put other sauce like Thai sweet chilli sauce or bbq sauce or cheese powder or ABC original chilli sauce (my favourite) etc. They are available in Coles or other places too.

      • +1

+1 just for the love to ABC. Only tried it recently and its quickly become my go to, love dipping sardines in it.

    • Which Coles are you at @Capitalshark?

    • I just gave them a try and was pleasantly surprised. One of the better frozen chicken I've had. Didn't feel the need to put any sauce on it cause the flavour is very strong. I didn't taste the chilli at first but towards the end I could. It's not very hot but if you can't handle your chilli it probably will be for you. It does taste Korean but the batter tastes like most the other frozen chicken so the best I can say is it tastes like a mixture of those.

  • They were on clearance at my Coles (Blackburn North VIC) for $2 each, so I grabbed 6 bags

    • +1

So cheap … Different stores different price … Maybe depends on the Store Manager to decide for clearance. The packaging says "Limited edition".

Enjoy your chicken wing party 😋

    • +2

Still waiting for someone to say they are awesome and a bargain… everyone chasing price no one talking taste

      • yes, would be good to know what they actually taste like

        • Moderately spicy, but weird bitter aftertaste that's nothing like Korean Fried Chicken. For the price though, can't complain

      • If you don't like the taste, just put other sauce like Thai sweet chilli sauce or bbq sauce or cheese powder or ABC original chilli sauce (my favourite) etc. They are available in Coles or other places too.

      • +2

Just ya typical asiany five spice sorta taste, not overpowering or anything….I quite liked em, but prefer their habanero ones.

        • might try the habanero ones….how hot are they? The "flaming" ones have no spice at all anymore that I can tell.

          • @souths123: Always hate answering that question coz it depends on your tolerance ;P, but yeah theres definitely some spice to these. After a few bites tho I swear the grease makes it hit less and its time to pull out the homemade habanero sauce.

            • +1

@PAEz: ok thanks. I didn't want to get them if they were just hot and no real other flavour and then so hot that you can't taste anything anymore anyway. I love spicy but not OTT spicy for the sake of it.

  • Looks sold out at Rhodes

  • For those willing to miss a "deal" if it means keeping their financial support away from the companies screwing our would I'd suggest checking Steggles/Lilydale on sites like Ethical Shopping.

    • This is a bargain website … Most people don't care or don't know or don't want to check the company background of every things/services they buy.

If you boycott unethical companies, most likely you don't shop in many supermarkets and other places. Even certain (can I say many if not all) farms in Australia are not ethical. Better you grow your own fruits and veggies, and make many goods by yourself which is not sustainable … You'd be surprised by how many companies in the world are not ethical …

      • Bargains include cashless values like travel, maintenance, stress on relationships, etc. Company ethics is certainly included in that but it may play a smaller part for some buyers. Cage egg posts are an example of this, they become a hot topic with numerous people down-voting them based purely on ethical views.

That aside, I don't disagree with what you say and going by previous polls on the subject there's probably a bunch of people here who'd shiv their own family for a few bucks but there'd also be many more who simply aren't aware or don't have the time to research.

You're right about the companies, they chase our money so in the end they're simply a reflection of our own ethical choices. Wasn't long ago I heard some talk about introducing androids made to resemble children for pedo's. To me it's not a question of yes/no but a question of how the frigg this even become something to discuss.

Anyways, my hope is I've enlightened some and the rest got a good bargain.

  • +1

Was labeled as $13 at my store but was $6.50 when scanned at checkout.

  • I checked again some Coles stores through Coles app, this product is not available anymore … Maybe Ozbargained 😂 You'd be lucky to find any in your local Coles.

  • +2

That is not Korean flavour. Chilli is different, similar southern asian sriracha. No tasty will never buy again.

  • +1

Just had it for lunch… I rate it 3/10.

It's real pieces of wing and drumlette, but there is a lot of batter that is overly flavoured which just crumbles off.

Does not feel too oily, flavour is kinda hybrid of soy, kimchi, paprika. Passable.

  • +1

    I rate this 1/10.

It is just chicken fat, bones and skins wrapped in carb enriched batter.

The other two Chicken Wing Nibbles products by Steggles are much better quality.

    • Yes there was a lot of skin. I would rather buy some chicken thighs and make some karage from scratch.

No wonder it's on clearance. Failed product. How did they even agree in taste test to mass produce this is a mystery.

      • How did they even agree in taste test to mass produce this is a mystery.

I must have clearly missed the Korean flavour.

Now I have to clean my air fryer again as it dropped off way too many crumbs everywhere.

        No wonder it's on clearance.

Like you said, it is a failed product.
