  • +1 because I got a soft spot for BM7551-84X
But it has been cheaper in the past.

Surprisingly nothing too crazy from this mob or SB for eofy.

    • Actually it’s $166 delivered at watch direct with code EOFY24

I’ll leave the +1 up anyway

  • +1
    • that is a flipping good price !

      • Yeah I got one recently, very nice package.
Was only a bit better with the 150$ off VIP voucher at $356

        • I'm waiting for the SBSC009 to be on sale.

I have too many black dial watches.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Thats always true, they are all different enough though.

Geez 1k is too much though but for under $400 it was a good decision, my first 4r34

            • -1

              @G-rig: Definitely for under $400.

I have too many field watches so this will most likely just gather dust after my honey moon period.

I keep refreshing the link hoping it goes out of stock so it stops me thinking about buying it LOL

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: Yeah it's a good price but good to make sure you need it either way. May go under 400$ again sometime in the next 6m.

It's still a GMT as well, not exactly a Field what's either, but I consider it a pretty good everyday wear you don't have to be too careful with.

                • @G-rig: I've been mostly my Casio F91W and A158 lately for daily.

Its light, thin and does a lot more than most analogue watches can do.

                  • @SpeedRunnerLink: Yeah easy as. I got those classics, can't go wrong.
                    AE1200 well worth it.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Where would you get it? Only available on eBay or JDM sites.

Sapphire, solar, 100m WR, screw down crown $199.

Just put it in on a nato strap.

      • This is one thing I don’t understand about Hamilton , my khaki field mechanical didn’t even have a screw down crown but times can put one in a watch1/4 of the price

        • Yeah I got the handwind, that type of movement you wind and then it stops after it's unwound all the way, not movement based (I think).

I agree that I'll watch just be 100 m and screw down, but pilots and field you don't really want to be in the water too much. Just easier to give it a wine without unscrewing it first sometimes.

          • @G-rig: It's not crucial but my point being a watch 1/4 of the price was able to include it.

My SKX007 had screw down, ISO rated for diving, crown guard etc. I took that thing everywhere for travelling including swimming, diving and hiking.

I don't get that confidence with the Hamilton even though its a field watch.

Even the Seiko field watches on sale come with screw down.

            • @SpeedRunnerLink: That's all true mate, which is why I like divers the most. Rugged with mostly brushed surfaces, good WR & lume, dress them up or down (bracelet/rubber), great legibility.

Any $100 Ali watch can have the ideal specs, the SKX is iconic but now overrated for the secondhand asking prices (old movement/no hacking, no sapphire, cheap rubber strap.. but still loved.

I think Hamilton has its own appearance and brand heritage, I wouldn't go swimming on purpose in the field or something like the Murph (100m but no screw down) but I wouldn't want to bang it around. Maybe someone can explain it better, it's more convenient to give them a wind without screw down, and divers for diving.

It's fun having a variety of styles and brands for different applications, but can't go wrong with divers and GADAs are good too (more dressy but still 100m etc.

              • @G-rig: I agree a dive watch can do all of that.

But as I've gotten older i have been gravitating towards thinner watch.

Even my Black Bay 58 feels thick these days. And this is coming from a SKX007 which is 13.25mm that was thicker.

Thats why I want a simple light and thin field watch that can survive most terrains and conditions but the KFM hasn't filled that requirement.

Reason why i dont get a Seiko field watch is because their accuracy and QC is poor compared to Swiss watches unless you go up to Grand Seiko.
Even the Prospex series in the couple of thousand range dont have the best accuracy.

      • It's currently 15% that too with EOFY24, nice deal man.
Makes this Lorus RXF41AX7 I was eyeing off seem pricey (snap back, no solar, mineral)
        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/386839765190

Minor problem was the shipping protection they heavily advocate at Watch Direct was de-selected, warning acknowledged and it re-imposed itself at checkout without the ability to remove it. Personally no problem to me, it was a dry run to test the EOFY24 code.

Possibly a good thing actually. Good luck getting Auspost to compensate for anything.
