Looking for a laptop that will not combust when working in spreadsheets - Nothing crazy, some pivot tables and maybe an AI excel plug in at most. No gaming. Watching videos from time to time and using AI. Budget <$1000 and looking to take advantage of EOFY.
I haven't owned a personal laptop in a while, what software would you recommend? Microsoft office suite and some virus protection?

I don't know that particular Lenovo, it seems more than enough for your needs. Any Lenovo means you are buying an IBM machine, I would not buy a brand-new laptop for hefty price. I own X and T series B grades which are solid for life. For free Office google MS Guides.
Any AI plugin in excel (or the native copilot stuff) runs in the cloud.
IMO I'd go whatever system has the screen you want and has plenty of RAM or upgradeable RAM as the first thing.

Office 365, particularly if you can get it through work it's about $90 odd bucks a year for a family account. Personally I just use Microsoft Defender and ad/script blocking. I know bitdefender and AVG are meant to be better but the endless popups they have annoyed me too much.
