As much as I purchased this game years ago and this is a great price, I really appreciate the Negs on this deal highlighting the companies issues.
why have I never heard of this game?

Be aware this game has a LOT of reading.
Its all voice acted now, there is still some reading, but nowhere near as much as before
Looking forward to it! I have been hearing a lot of good things about the lore. Haven't been this excited since reading my first Penthouse forums.

Keep in mind the developer fired the majority of their devs AFTER the game was a massive success.

Yeah. Tricky one - Devs basically advocated for people to pirate this game, but this price for easy access and cloud saves might be kinda worth it.

The new owners never intend to make a good sequel. Just look at the new Collage mode for instance. Most fans of this game only like the game at the surface level, and will happily indulge in new DE content that was given as a distraction from the forced firing of the original creators.
That's pretty cruddy. How short sighted of the company to burn the good will they got from the success of the first game.
@Ruddaga: Yeah, but if you look at the polarising reception of the Collage Mode, you can see that at least those players not in the know are enjoying it and are oblivious to the takeover, which is what the new ZA/UM owners intended.
Kinda scummy to distract the player base from your wrongdoings.
Slow burn but a good game.
This is possibly my favourite game of all time. Such a shame what happened with the studio, unlikely to see a sequel now

Can't recommend this game enough.
It does require your liking to read though, since it's more of an interactive book than a game. It does have everything voice acted.
It starts slow and you might need to give it some time to develop, but from there it's incredible.
Played it a while back but never finished it, game felt too depressing even though I had a great time playing it and it often made me laugh out loud. Purchasing on Steam thanks to this post.

Original creators have been forcibly ousted from the company because of a hostile takeover from another company.
Never give the new owners a single cent.
Pirate the game instead if you want to support the original developers.
Fantastic game, just know the money doesn't go to the devs, capitalism like in the game.

This would be a good price, but after hearing about the forced dismissal of its creators after the hostile takeover, I simply cannot stand to buy this game, even at this low of a price.
They’re not earning any more royalties from the revenue of this game, and even the devs have encouraged us to pirate the game so that the game doesn’t give a single cent more to the new owners.

Strongly recommend, lots of reading but very interesting game, but ironically, the moral thing to do would actually be to pirate this game as it is the developers wishes.
As cheap as it is, don’t support the venture capitalist company that screwed over the devs.
