Looking for a Gaming Laptop to Do School Work, Game, and Music Production - Budget $1,000

Hey fellas, been searching for a decent gaming laptop around the $1000 price mark. Will be doing school work, some lite music production on Ableton (nothing too intense), and just some lite gaming nothing intense. I've heard a lot of stuff about MSI laptops going bad but I don't know if that's hearsay. Been looking at the Lenovo LOQ models so far and found some deals,

Lenovo LOQ 15IAX9 15.6"

Lenovo LOQ 16IRH8 16"

Between the two which one would be the more savvy option and the better deal.

If you guys think there are better options in the market right now (looking to take advantage of EOFY sales), please let me know, any kind of help will be appreciated!

  • https://www.binglee.com.au/products/nitro-v-15-6-13th-gen-in…, newer GPU for the same price. $1098, possibly an extra 10% off with eBay Plus from Bing Lee eBay.

    • I've heard that the acer nitro's have poor display brightness and colour range, and there's a lot of other issues that come with it, is it still a viable option? I don't know much about computers sorry.

      • +1

You'll be better off with the RTX 4050, if you're doing colour-sensitive work then get an external monitor when you use at home

  • How lite is the gaming? You can do lite gaming with an iGPU on the 8845HS.

  • Music production probably means you want a lot of RAM btw.

    • Most of these at this price point will only ship with 16GB, but practically all of them will be upgradeable too. Chances are they've just chucked in 1x16GB stick and there'll be a spare slot available

  • I've been looking at the LOQ. Every time I think about going with the Nitro I read something horrible that puts me off where as most LOQ owners forums and comments seem to be pretty chill and just complain about battery life, which is par for the course for gaming laptops.
But LOQs are becoming harder to find. Often Officeworks has ones listed at this kind of price, but not for sale online. But its not easy tracking down physical locations of particular units.
