No amaysim Service Overseas?

Currently overseas in germany at the moment and my amaysim plan is showing as 'No Service' and unable to recieve texts to my australian number whatsoever; using a local sim atm and obviously not expecting any calls or data from my amaysim but being unable to receive sms messages without a roaming plan sucks for everything that sends you a verification code, and I definitely remember receiving SMS messages while overseas before in NZ and Japan. Anyone know if this is a recent cost-cutting measure by amaysim?

edit: enabling international roaming in amaysim settings allowed my sim to connect to a local provider and receive text messages

By default roaming is disabled for your amaysim account, you can however enable it at any time through Settings in My amaysim.

    • I have noticed the same in Timor-Leste. I logged a ticket with them and after days of trying to resolve they said it was a problem with the local provider and gave a full refund.

    • sorry! figured this out and had a busy day and forgot to update my forum topic afterwards, this did work! weird the way they word it it seems like enabling intl roaming doesn't do anything without buying a pack first (but actually does)

Hoping to get verification messages in Japan

  • When I was in HK earlier this year I found the same thing, no provision to receive a SMS without a roaming pack added.

  • you may need to manually select each network provider and see if theres access,

in japan the automatically select network wasnt working, it also changed in different cities.

  • You need to manually turn it on the amaysim app. Also try manually selecting a network provider.

  • Need to enable roaming on the website or app.

  • Was in Singapore same issue.

  • Pretty amazing!
After spending over 100 grands with Telstra I asked to give me a 2FA just south of Germany, to rent a bike from a charity. Took them 3 days and cost me $70.
Coles mobile using Optus gets incoming texts thru.
Boost on the other hand charged me 2x $40 for service in India. nothing worked, lost 80 bucks. Same in Europe.
