solved - grabbed 30day / 3gb from mobimatters at US$9.99

I need an esim for egypt.

there for 18 days.

don't need a lot of data as will be using hotel wifi for most data heavy stuff. so 3gb would be enough.

simsdirect do a 30day / 3gb for $39

airalo.com do a 30day / 3gb for $26

anything cheaper?

    Check TravelKon, Ubigi, eskimo and kkday.

    If you're a NordVPN customer, you may have gotten a code for 5Gb of data with Saily (Nord's esim business).

    mobimatters came out cheapest at US$9.99

    TravelKon - $17.10 for 3gb/30 day esim (with HX7CS code)

    eskimo doesn't appear to have esims for Egypt (africa- yes, middle east -yes)
    ubigi - hmm not as cheap as travelkon
    KKday 22.58 with 500mg/day @ 20 days - decent but overkill for my needs
