When you drop into a thread to slam a Daft Punk album not once, not twice, but thrice, I believe that makes YOU the Daft Punk ;-)

    • +2

Could you expand on your comment with details. I'm genuinely interested to understand in detail why you believe this to be their worst album. Also, are you a casual listener of Daft Punkt or are you a die-hard fan?

      • Yes I am a big fan. I don’t like it because 1) too many collaborations. 2) didn’t like the change in direction of their sound.

Album felt like a cash grab attempt to become more mainstream in the US market. It clearly worked for them financially.

        • I can understand your points, thanks for being honest.

There were a few artistic facts that I liked about this album such as, they used different period/era microphones for the interview voice samples in Giorgio by Moroder. I heard Giorgio in an interview ask why they were doing this as no listeners would be able to tell the difference but Daft Punkt said it was important to them. So from that point, there was some artistic passion in the project.

Imagine seeing a generally loved car model and yelling around it's crap, only because - wait for it - you liked the previous model more. Well, also because it was made together with another brand… Perhaps fair enough, but being so vocal about something so subjective, esp. in the context of such acclaimed item, is annoying to everyone else around you ;)

          "Metallica ended on Kill'em All!"

@pizzaguy: Imagine not being able to handle that someone has a different opinion to yours. I literally said in my first post…

You’re welcome to have a different opinion. But that’s mine.

            • +1

@PainToad: Ofc you can have your opinion! And you stated it. And then you stated it again. And again. And then admitted that its based on very subjective reasons.

I was just saying that you're so eager to announce "your opinion" among others - mostly fans, from what I see - it's like farting on a train: someone did it, oh well, the train is fine. But then that person keeps farting, pointing at themselves.

Yeah, I guess you totally can do that if you really want.

Ummm it’s music. Of course it’s subjective. There’s no objective equation for determining “good” music.

        • Random Access Memories is heaps different to their previous albums but it's still damn good music.

Justice scratches the itch Daft Punk left behind, Hyperdrama is a pretty damn good album IMO although maybe too close to Random Access Memories for your tastes.

            @Ghost47:

            Justice

Now I have D.A.N.C.E. in my head.

            Do the D-A-N-C-E
            One, two, three, four, fight
            Stick to the B-E-A-T
            Get ready to ignite
            You were such a P.Y.T
            Catching all the lights
            Just easy as A-B-C
That's how you make it right

    • -3

      I agree with you

  • Thanks, been meaning to order this vinyl and reports are its the best audio quality version

    • What's wrong with 2003 or 2013 editions?

      • +1

Nothing. The "reports" most likely come from people who have a vested interest in sales of this new version.

  • +11

This is one of a kind album, well worth the money imho

  • +13

Shattered that I never got to see their live show before they broke up

    • +7

I saw them in the pyramid almost 20 years ago

    • -6

There’s some good quality Alive 2007 recordings on YouTube. Suggest watching that instead of listening to this album.

    • Great show in Sydney but feral crowd.

    • +2

For me Justice has filled the void that Daft Punk left. Would love to see them live one day.

Oh and fun fact, at their Alive 2007 concerts they had 100 signed posters available after each show.

  • Is the 3rd LP just bonus stuff?

    • Yes, I think so

    • The 3rd LP is fantastic. Probbaly the one we play most!

  • Anyone else checkout the Drumless version of "RAM" ?

a different listen.. probably nice if you are a drummer who loves the album but for most others.. just different

    • +3

I just don't get it. First time I heard about this I thought it was a fan made AI thing. Granted I haven't given it a chance, but it just seems weird to me.

  • +2

    Missin em.

  • +1

Damn paid exhorbitant full price when this got released. Well worth it at this price, it’s quality

  • +1

Great record espeecially the bonus LP.

    Thanks,

Have listened to this album so many times over the years. Worth investing in the Vinyl for posterity

I think if you already have this, I would recommend getting this one next https://shop.daftpunk.com/products/random-access-memories-dr…

    Thanks again! @rosebank

You're turning my savings account into shambles my man! ;)

  • +1

Holy sh*t.. this really over 10 years old??!

  • +2

i kinda find it odd to buy a vinyl to listen to electronic punk music lol.

you'd digital is the way to go for the way the music is produced, i.e. no vocals, all synth.

    • There is an irony to it now that you mention it lol.

    • For some people it's more about the overall experience of using a record player.

    • +1

pharrell williams, todd rogers, julias casablancas, panda bear probably consider themselves vocalists

    • you'd digital is the way to go for the way the music is produced, i.e. no vocals, all synth.

      Wut.
