If You Are on Centrelink, Check Your MyGov Account Regarding Energy Bill Relief

I just went to my Centrelink account regarding my concession card to see when it expires (needed for power company) when I found something. Under My Details menu is a Consent form for the electricity retailer. It says they cant release your concession details without your consent. The form requires your electricity companys ABN number, your account number, and your ticked consent. I have never seen this before so I filled it in, hoping to avoid any delays

Not if you want to save money

Not applicable in SA as energy concessions are handled by ConcessionsSA

    • -3

Not all of them. Concessions such as Carers are manually applied and stll go through Ceno. Large WP thread bleeding on about the rebates and the delays.

        I literally said "energy concessions"

        • And literally Carers was added to the energy concessions list for the energy bill rebate OP is discussing but not managed by DHS.

See the thread on WP and the months and months delays for recipients to receive it.

      • Got a link ?

  • The consent is the energy bill rebate scheme not the concession rebate?

Mine is off through Centrelink but I still got the energy relief with my concession card through the supplier.

Centrelink state: "If you don't want to provide consent through Services Australia, contact your electricity retailer directly."

To me, this implies that if you don't give concent through Centrelink, you will need to give your details to the supplier and they will approve and double check eligibility.

If people needed to opt in, I would imagine all the enquiries and hell would break loose

    • Any link to government website explaining

energy bill rebate scheme and the concession rebate

The energy bill relief is the name of the federal programme, you dont have to be on centrelink to get that. The NSW State Govt has just increased the low income household rebate to 350 per year, up from 285. Gas remains the same at 110. I remind low income earners that you can apply for a health care card, and apply for this rebate

  • I got this:
"If you live in Western Australia or Queensland, you can't provide consent through us. Retailers in Western Australia and Queensland will automatically apply rebates to eligible households."
    Thanks anyway.

  • How does one go about getting this benefit if they don't have an energy bill in their own name. My electricity is covered by my rental payment.

  • Depends on the states.
