Otto Geometric 36W GaN Dual USB-C Wall Charger $10 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ OnePass/ within 10km of Store) @ Officeworks

1410

Same deal as this, except with (IMO) a more palatable colour scheme.

Yes it does interrupt power to both ports if you plug/unplug something into the 2nd port.
Yes it supports super fast charging in my Galaxy Fold 5 if it's by itself, otherwise it drops to just fast charger.
No I do not have an iPhone 15 to test.

OP sounds jaded with all the dumb questions I’m guessing that were asked from a previous post? 😂

Reminds me of every fb ad these days… “yes it’s available if it’s listed” and “requests for if it’s available will not be answered”

    • Reminds me of every fb ad these days… “yes it’s available if it’s listed” and “requests for if it’s available will not be answered”

Yet FB's default enquiry message is "Is this still available?".

  • Thanks. Got two. Don't know what I will be doing but still.

    • Charging stuff? Just an idea

I wish the AU Plug was foldable (like US), would have made it a lot more portable.

    • Defo. This will be like a giant LEGO should you step on it.

    • I feel cheated, now that you told us about this feature for US plugs
I hate it when Americans have it better and get all the better and more sophisticated versions and features

      • +1

        Type A plugs are crap

        • Frankly I’d much rather have the foldability and trade-off for the other crappy downsides.

      • +11

Have you ever been to a country that uses US style plugs? They utterly suck- the dual vertical prongs make the plugs really easy to droop half exposed out of sockets. I guess their risk is lessened by running at only 110V, but it's still bloody annoying.

They're only foldable if they forgo earthing.

Far as I can tell, Oz has the second most secure home plug type around. American and Euro plugs just suck all round.

      • +3

They may have foldable power plugs, but at least we don't have school shootings.

  • got 1 last time, very happy with it !

  • +2

What device is that to test the protocols available?

    • +1

      FNIRSI FNB58

      I personally use the Power-Z KM003C

      • +3

I like the Power-Z too but I mostly carry the FNB58 since the USB A ports are still more ubiquitous.

  • Got one last time and it's a great charger only issue is if you've got something else plugged in and you plug or unplug it cuts out the power for a split second. Really annoying for me when watching on my Chromecast and plugged into this charger.

    • +4

That a 'feature' of the majority of GaN Charger for power negotiation.

Bought one, 2 hour delivery lets go

    • +3

Just arrived! That's under an hour

    • +1

My order showed out of stock using normal postage (with onepass). Two hour delivery worked for some reason. Now I wait.

    • +1

And it arrived at 10:48am. 20 minutes early! I can now test with my phone to see if my old charger is faulty (charging phone slower than usual).

  • +2

    what with the hideous colour?

    • Yes

    • +1

I think it looks neat. If you don’t just add a sticker or repaint.

  • +3

Free 2hr delivery goes crazy. Arrived just at the 1hr mark.

    • +2

      Mine took about 30 mins.

      • +3

ordered 10mins ago and still hasn't arrived, might call to see what's the hold up

      • +1

        rofl the flex

    • Depending on how fast your DoorDash driver could go :)

  • Thanks OP, ordered and already received within 30mins.

  • Thanks mate! Ordered one

  • Is "Otto" a home brand of Officeworks? Bought 1 anyway.

    • +1

      The J.Burrows of technology

  • Dang, not able to order

    • +1

Yeah cant seem to order online for free delivery, says out of stock.

I was able to put one through for click and collect.

      • Awesome thank you, that worked, see how that goes

  • +1

Anyone else not a human according to Officeworks? I failed the hats test but regained my humanity for the chairs.

  • bought 2x from OW Canningvale (WA)
they still have 2 left @3:46 awst

  • When I selected onepass free delivery got an error message as "out of stock". Weirdly when I select 2 hr delivery it worked 😀

  • Are there any cheap USB 3.2 USB C cables which are also 100W rated?

  • Bought one online and got it delivered in 42 minutes. Thanks OP

  • +3

mine just arrived and yes it does charge Iphone 15 pro max

  • Thanks OP. Managed to grab the last one from my local

  • thanks picked one up just for the good price

  • +1

It's a nice little charger, looked high and low couldn't find it.

Found it at the checkout line while I was queuing to pay for something else.

  • 36w if using one or 18w max per slot?

Anyone got the specs the writing is too tiny and not on ow ad

    • +1

35W only if using a single port.
      Specs

      • Nah that means 18w max a port

Even if it can do 36w total

        Happy to be corrected

        • My phone pulls 25W from a single port when the battery is almost empty; so there's that.

        • That slash means either port… so it claims it can do 35w on either. Just ordered one, will comment after inline ammeter testing

  • +1

Didn't need any. So I bought 4. Thanks OP

    • Wow 4 , where u gonna use ?

  • sold out online :(

  • ozbargained

  • Thanks OP - bought 2 - $20 with free delivery, goods delivered in less than 60 minutes!!

  • +1

Great price but it's not the most useful form factor. Wouldn't work with any power point that's on the skirting boards or close to the ground because it requires a fair drop below the plug for the charger itself and then for your USB cables to poke out.

    • Yeah I agree. Long ago I got an "upside down" adapter that flips the socket for use with Xmas tree light transformers (when they were huge and made of iron).

  • +1

Picked one up at my local Officeworks for $5 on clearance.

  • out of stock in all local Officeworks. Cannot buy it online.
I don't like the guy who bought 4 but not using it.

  • This charger gets warm when in use. It remains warm when plugged in (not charging) overnight. My other USBC charger barely changes temperature when in use and is cold when left powered on (not charging).

This might be normal, maybe it's not efficient?

    • +1

It remains warm when plugged in (not charging) overnight.

Mine are 3C above ambient when not actively charging.

      • Hmm weird. Maybe mine is faulty?

        • The last GaN charger that I had that ran weirdly hot with nothing plugged in was a Hyperjuice from Kickstarter. There were so many reports of bad QC and occasional destroyed devices that I just tossed the charger.

          • +1

@rumblytangara: I've ran some tests using four different chargers, ran them unconnected for two hours, then again with a USBC cable plugged in. They all remained cool. Dunno why it was so warm before. I'll have to do more testing.
