Mozilla Firefox - Many Websites Stuck in CloudFlare Verification Loop

Hi all,

For some reason beginning roughly a month ago I'm starting to see plenty of websites where I got stuck in human verification loop, specifically, the CloudFlare verification.

Blinkist is one of them.
Crunchyroll being the other one and several others.
ChatGPT also.

Thankfully not OzBargain.

Verify you are human by completing the action below.
www.blinkist.com needs to review the security of your connection before proceeding.

Anyone had this issue and knew how to fix it? I've tried erasing / clearing browser cache and any cookies but no luck.

I could use Chrome as an alternative for some of these websites but obviously I'd rather not have to use Chrome if I can avoid it.

  • Are you using any extensions in Firefox? (Ublock Origin etc)

      I used and extension

The one that took me to "Chrome"

      Firefox has become unusable

    It is not you it's a known issue with firefox, two common causes;
    - often caused by an extension, disable all extensions and see if that helps.
    If not,
    - Firefox is not presenting the correct user-agent, and is hitting the default BOT category.
If not try a user-agent extension, so you present as Chrome.

About to start a war, but these days Edge is the superior browser, it's based on Chromium but without the bloat of Chrome.

Edge is great, once you disable all the snooping and 'features' they want to push in to collect your data.

      Vivaldi is a good alternative.

Edge was great but the moment I found out that they'll also be pushing through Google's Manifest V3 changes, I jumped back to Firefox.

        • Yeah I am FF all the way, but run all of the browsers in some form or another on mobile/desktop etc.

Except Chrome. It gets uninstalled everywhere (not counting work laptop).

          • @Mechz: Yeah, in my case I run FF on all desktops and laptops. I only really used Chromium Edge on my work devices because of it's tight integration with Office 365 which we used.

@Devastator0: You can use Firefox mobile + ublock origin in phone as well, which even blocks youtube ads, supports youtube background playback, sponsor block etc for Youtube.

@bazingaa: Oh damn, not bad, didn't know that. Cheers for the tip!

      Safari is way better.

        lol

    • SomeOrdinaryGamers has a youtube video which shows edge using more cpu & ram on the same video set to the same quality, so what bloat are you talking about?

However, Firefox was the worst for both cpu and ram, ain't what she used to be.

Haven’t seen the clip but likely was you tube. They are doing experiments targeting specific browsers when users are using add blockers. One day its edge the next they target chrome.

No need to worry about Manifest V3. Just use free NextDNS or Adguard DNS with free account and limit of 300k/month queries for personal use that most people will never reach including myself. Both DNS can block most ads, trackers, malware, etc. There are a lot of settings in the DNS website that you can set and very useful.

I put NextDNS in Chrome, Brave, Vivaldi, and Kiwi browser settings. Most ads and trackers can be blocked.

Yes Firefox will still support manifest V2 according to news, but I expect Brave browser may still be good after manifest V3 implementation by Google. Adblocker built-in in Brave browser. Both browsers can play YouTube in the background too.

If you have Adguard app, it's great too and can be combined with DNS above in the setting.

  • I use Firefox from version 0.9 or so. Never had such issues.
I just checked "www.blinkist.com" as you said and I didn't even get a Cloudflare check. I have a lot of extensions including ublock-origin, using 8.8.8.8 (GoogleDNS) as DNS.

    • Same, no Cloudflare check for the blinkist website with Firefox and extensions including ublock origin. I use NextDNS.

Through Google DNS, Google can see which websites you visit. In NextDNS website after login, this log history can be set to be removed every 1 day or 1 week etc. Also the location of the dns server can be set to certain countries such as Switzerland (more privacy).

      • I usually use PiHole + AdGuard DNS on a VM, but the PC was shutdown for moving it, and I am too lazy to turn it on yet lol. So, just using GoogleDNS for the time being. I think OP's IP got kinda blacklisted from Cloudflare or so, could be a shared IP ?

  • Maybe try installing this extension from Cloudflare https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/privacy-pass/ - improves your "human signal"

  • Could be because your IP has bad reputation, can you try visiting these websites using the hotspot from your phone?
I have not personally experienced any issues with cloudflare protected websites when using firefox.

I stopped using Brave for same reason, went back to Chrome
