Graphic designers

Not really looking for a bargain (although cheap can be good). Where would the best place to look for a competent graphic designer?

My photoshop skills are pretty basic but don't have the time or ability to do what I want for my wedding invitation. We're going to be sending out pretend playstation games for our wedding invites based on my fiancee's favourite game. I want the logo slightly modified and the female character on the front's dress to be turned white and the male character to be be put into a tux. Also an insert with the wedding details and a disc design (currently thinking of sending a slideshow on a DVD).

Obviously I don't want to spend a bundle on a 'cute' wedding invite. Anyone have any experience on how much something like that would cost? I have NFI.

    For a job like this, particuarly given the IP issues, I'd avoid any official contracts and try to find community help. That means discussion places (like here!) where someone might offer to help.

    Without knowing more it sounds like it would take a skilled person 2-4 hrs for the cover (tux, dress, logo).
    Turning a dress from pink to white won't take more than 15 minutes. The tux and logo look like the lengthy part since that would be created from scratch - may take more time if you want it to blend in to the original image.

    If you go online, you could probably get it done for under $80: elance.com

    People may be willing to do it since it's for private use.

    I'm not sure what design needs to be done with the insert and disc design so I can't really comment on that.

    I just started a small business and wanted logos, letterhead, signature blocks and business cards etc designed. I put a job on www.serviceseeking.com.au and I had about 10 Graphic designers contact me within about 3 hrs. I had 2 ring me up to try and win my job. I had quotes ranging from around $100 to over $1K, I reckon your invites would be pretty cheap. The system blocked any more contacting me unless I wanted more, I went with a local bloke although he wasnt the cheapest. I was surprised how cheap they all were, some of them just farm the work out to people in india and can have it done very quickly.
