Cheapest Pre-Packaged Cheese & Crackers

My family is currently going through quite a lot of pre- packaged cheese and crackers. We currently buy the chilled ones from Aldi which have 3 bits of cheese and 3 crackers which are $4 for a 4 pack of them. Is there anywhere that sells them for cheaper than $1 a pack? Perhaps Costco?

I know that doing it myself is cheaper but I don’t have enough spare time to do that kind of prep on a regular basis.

but I don’t have enough spare time to do that kind of prep on a regular basis.

You don't have enough time to cut a slice from a block of cheese and open a packet of jatz. For 3 bits of cheese that's what, 1 minute?

    I don't believe you :)

You just have a spare minute lying around? Get on LinkedIn and optimise that wasted time. Hustle, rise and grind!

A comment only in the interests of cozzie livs. Buy cracker cut cheese and a box of crackers. Dispense a weeks supply into tiny ziplock bags. Pack cheese separately from crackers. You'll now have much more choice of crackers and have saved a few dollars which I encourage you to spend on some other food indulgence. I now see that Woolies does four for $4.40 which is hard to beat!

    • What if you have no self control and once the packets are opened you'll inhale the lot in one night?

I get it. For close to $1 per pack maybe it's ok to stick with pre-packaged but these can also be eaten to excess.

Probably could use a vacuum sealer and make your own little packets. Just stop the machine before the crackers start cracking under the pressure. Maybe psychologically you won't want to undo all that extra work it takes to make them. Some people though they just can't have bulk packets of junk food in the house, they can't help themselves. Metering it out seems nuts when it's so cheap and tasty, you just want to eat it as quickly as possible. Can imagine myself sitting there snipping open all the individual packets I made one by one and eating them.

I don't know how time-poor you are, but have you actually tried this? From the sounds of it, you're going through a lot of cheese and crackers. Just slice a block up on Sunday. Will take a couple minutes and will last you a week. Cheaper, and much less plastic waste.
