Sony SEL70200G2 70-200mm G II F4 Zoom Lens $1690.97 + $7.95 Delivery & $150 Sony Cashback @ Ryda

200

ATL for this lens I think. With the Sony cashback, price drops to $1,540.97. If you price match through Sony and have the $50 Amex credit offer, the price drops to $1,490 with free shipping. It's a great lens with new macro capability that the first generation lens doesn't have. In stock again at Sony. I also had a 10% voucher which was accepted so total cost was $1,306.

$150 Sony cashback available

sony is on fire this year

That's an insane price for a very sharp lens. I thought I had a deal when I bought it earlier in the year with the 2x teleconverter for around 2500.

  • Mods have added "backorder" in the title, but it's only backordered for the next two days. Shipping from June 27. Mine said backordered but it shipped the next day.

Got me excite until I saw F4.

I much preferred the Tamron 70-180/2.8 myself. It hit the sweet spot for me in size and performance.
Although in the end I sold it for the 35-1801.8-2.8

    • I have a mix of Sony and Sigma lenses but I'm gradually transitioning to all-Sony mainly because of the focus breathing compensation feature that Sony lenses have for video use.

    • Which is the 35-180 1.8-2.8?

      • Sorry typo, it was 35-150mm.
I traded a bit more range yet again for something that suits my every day

This or Tamron 70-180mm f2.8 G2? Sony is abit more exp. Both have VCs.

I use the first gen Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM and it is perfect - no issues such as what Lensrental found by opening one up. I have used it everywhere including poor weather and environment conditions and it has not skipped a beat.

The f/4 I would skip unless looking for a light and compact lens.

If buying today would either look for a used copy or grab the Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 Sport which could probably be found below $2000 or DigiDirect eBay store.

I have the Tamron 70-180 g2 and it’s amazing!! So compact and light it’s a game changer for me and it stays in my bag next to the 35mm 1.4GM

      • How is the Tammy G2 for low light moving objects? I've seen some reviews saying its AF struggles vs the Sony f2.8 70-200 G2. Totally understand you can't expect the same performance for that price but keen to know whether it's a minor or major difference

        • Hmm I cant say I've compared like for like, I also usually shoot video, but compared to my 35 GM I feel like the Tamron is on par if not better 🤷🏻‍♂️ The focus breathing compensation that my zv-e1 provides to a 'sony' lens is really not noticeable from my perspective. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZhR2swBXN0Q

      • I had the first version of the Tamron and it was great, could go in places (bags) the other bigger lenses couldn’t.

  • Was $1599 with camera house ebay for a week, surprised they didn’t sell out quicker.

  • Just an amazing lens …add the Teleconverter and unleash even more creativity.
