Foilboard is what I am going to use to insulate the tilt door of my hunting shed.

    • For sound insulation?

How much rent u getting for renting out garage?

    • Hahaha i wish, my new workplace allows me to work from home, and i want to keep my workstation in the garage. I don’t want to keep it in the living and my bedrooms are full. So garage is the only option.

When I last looked like 2 years ago for option to insulate garage gym there were mobs like thermadoor which had specific options for garage insulation - saw a really good example of it in the Facebook gym garage page back then, but in the end I cbf and just wear more during winter and got industrial floor fans for summer.

Will a car ever need to be in the garage? Is the roof of the garage flat, or is it under your main house roof?

Anyway I'd seal off all air gaps and put an AC in there to keep it between 19-25 degrees. Make it a permanent extra room. Seal the door if with a big plastic sheet even, wouldn't insulate it well but will trap air inside. Need a car in there or garage door access, just tear the plastic down.

        • The roof is tiled and insulated, the doors to the garage have a strip underneath to stop the air flow

@Stifler92: If you can stop the air gaps, get an AC to control temp and humidity, get some good smart bulbs to light it just how you want it, then it'll be a fine room to work in I bet. If it has no window then that would suck, but how often you look out the window anyway. It'll be like having a bigger house just for the cost of an AC.

            • @AustriaBargain: yup thats the plan, probably make it my den!! I think i have a lot of open for the garage door insulations but just need something for the corners to stop the air.

  • youtube it, USA youtube got couple good videos about comparing different types of insulation for the garage door, and in my case panel lift door. Long story short, best option regards heat/cold insulation is foilboard double sided with aluminium, and 35 mm thick, make sure you leave air gap between foilboard and panel lift. Insulating the sides of panel lift door I have used SYG Seal Your Garage door, 388$ delivered and 10 year warranty and fire retardant (best deal i could find online) and works a treat, stoped the wind/dust/bugs you named it .Now its time to chase down some foil board and insulate the panel lift itself.

    • Thanks for the tip, The videos were useful I'll be doing the installation this long weekend. One thing I want to ask will I have to re align the garage door as it might get heavy?
