    • Down to $2650 with referral voucher. Very good buy. I wonder how low it will go on Black Friday

  • Has anyone tried price matching at local stores?

  • Bought, thanks OP!

  • Ripper deal! Bought the 85 inch this morning with the $30 referral code bringing it down to $2711 and free delivery.

I did my research on this TV and was under the impression it was the same as the QM8 2024 released in the United States but it's a different model altogether. If you compare those two models the main difference is in peak brightness. The US version QM8 has a 5000 nits peak brightness whereas Australia's C855 gets 3500 nits. Not a huge deal breaker, when you consider the main competitor to the TCL c855 is the Hisense U8NAU which only has a peak brightness of 1600 nits. The TCL c855 seems to match and beat the Hisense U8NAU in every field. Not to mention the Hisense U8NAU 75 inch is more expensive than this TCL C855 85 inch.

It's a no brainer in my opinion.

  • Got the 85c845 around christmas and its crazy good quality and value. I've got the direct comparison to an oled and you don't really see the difference in movies. I will likely upgrade to a TCL mini/micro led 100+" in the coming years when they hit $2000…that's my sweet spot.

  • Bought, upgrading from LG C7 OLED which I had bad experience with pixel burn in and customer service issues.

  • Does anyone have any suggestions for a slim wall mount for this size?

  • Yes JB just dropped the price.

I guess they got too many price match requests about this Appliances Online deal.

Don't trust stock status at Appliances Online. Everything is "available to order" on the website, with an automatic default 1 month "expected delivery" time, regardless of whether or not they actually have any way to order it.

I ordered something that was out of stock but available to order with an expected delivery time, that later turned out to be discontinued and unavailable from the distributor, but remained on sale from Appliances Online. Then, months later they contacted me by phone to try to upsell something else, instead of just refunding everyone straight away.

Very scammy practices from Appliances Online. If you can get the same price somewhere else then don't buy from Appliances Online.

    • Well you can now order the TV from JB instead if you want as they have now dropped the price to $2741. If you can find a store with it in stock. For what i just saw through the Click & Collect stock check there's only a few stores in NSW, one store in Melbourne and one in Perth with the TV in stock. So there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of stock yet.

  • I'm waiting for the TCL 75" C855 to come on sale. Best I can find is $2708 @ AppliancesOnline

    • I found slightly better. $2646 with free shipping (selected cities) from Appliance Central. Or click & collect from the Villawood NSW store if nearby there. But that's only $122 less than the 85" model from the Appliances Online deal. Is it worth $122 more for an extra 10 inch in size.

      https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/75c855-tcl-75-inch-c855-…

      • it's an extra 3k+ for an another 13in on top of the 85 so 10in for 122 is a pretty good deal..what she said anyway

        • Ok no problems. Appliance Central just dropped the 75" to $2642 since i made the comment an hour ago so a whopping $4 less now.

          • @hollykryten: jokes aside 100 odd more is a no brainer 75in vs 85in is 30%+ more screen

      • Thanks guys, but wall space limits me to 75" max

  • Does every other shop eg appliance central , JB hifi all have stock for the 85C855, except for appliance online????

    • I don't think there's much stock around yet. Appliances Online doesn't currently have stock. It's why it's on preorder.

Don't buy TCL TV. I bought one in 2015 and it broke down in 2018. Half of the TV showed a blank screen.
In contrast, the Sony TV I bought in 2013 still works.

I bought this deal, it will be my third TCL. The first two haven’t missed a beat since purchase in 2020. Love the Google TV OS.

  • 6 agonizing weeks wait on delivery now. Anyone know how accurate this is?

    • Stock is meant to be in at the start of August.

      • Yeah, 8th August currently

  • I showed the salesman this price in JB hi-fi and the he said that they don't price match with Appliances Online because they sell refurbished products as new.

    This is off the website:

Appliances Online sells only BRAND NEW in the box products, no factory seconds or second hand products. Our products are all the latest models and come direct to us from the Manufacturer. Every product we sell is covered by its full manufacturer's warranty.

Did you ask him how they get the quantity of used/refurbished for this item given that the model has literally just been released?

      • Didn't waste my breath

    • That's actually legally slander. I should've recorded him and given it to ACCC.

      • +1

yep ask them next time to put that in writing and see how quickly they backtrack

  • @vedlin best mid to high range buy ATM. Thanks for the post!!!

  • Anyone got a recommendation for a wall mount suitable for studs behind plasterboard?

I would prefer one that allows you to adjust the angle. Saw this discussion but the owner said he mounted it to brick.

  • Can any owners tell me the width of the stand legs ie. The distance between them?
