Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Tablet, Is It a Decent Upgrade for My Wife?

Hi there. My wife’s birthday coming up and I am hearing very clearly the her old Samsung tablet is being a pain to use, and battery life now not great. Apps slow, games crashing/rebooting.
Hers is an old (was top line) S2 tablet. Yes, it’s old.
Seems in perfect condition apart from her saying battery life is poor (then again once it’s below 50% she says it’s almost flat, same with her car with fuel .. half full means almost empty 😀😀)

Anyway, looking at the Samsung S9 FE is at Office Works for $524 at the moment, seems a decent price.

Is it worth it, a good tablet? I assume it’s much better than the s2 but I don’t know.
She really uses the camera, uses basic browsing, watches some videos on Facebook and YouTube (craft things mostly), prints things out sometimes, and plays a few games like Junes Journey..those types of games.

We keep our devices for ages, she has a Samsung S21 (she didn’t want the bigger s21ultra) and a Samsung watch 4 , if that info is useful.

I see the screens are more widescreen now, compared to my old iPad Pro and her Samsung S2, is that an issue with games or anything?

    I mean, I don't think the tablet will cook and clean or do anything in the bedroom, but it's likely cheaper and won't nag you, so…

    She’s upgrading from a S2.. anything would be an upgrade

    It would be a huge upgrade over the Tab S2.

    Got mine for a month now and i use it for Ozbargain, Kindle eBooks, Remote desktop to my Windows PC and play some basic games like Vampire Survivors.

    The next model up, the Tab S9 has a quad speaker setup and it sounds much fuller than the dual-speaker setup on the cheaper FE, and there's also a faster Snapdragon SOC, Galaxy AI features + AMOLED display but the price difference wasn't quite worth it for my use case.

      Thanks for the reply. That was kinda my thinking, that the full s9 is just not needed.
      Did you get the FE or the bigger screen FEplus? Being wider screen is no issues with apps, nothing looks stretched?

        I went for the smaller one. I previously had the Tab S7 FE which was 12.4 inches. The extra screen size is great for browsing / remote desktop but it also made the device quite heavy to use one handed.

        If you use your tablet only at home and rarely bring it out then I'd consider the bigger Plus tab.

            @shxhshzhz: The performance difference is largely due to the difference in amount of RAM. Both tablets are otherwise in the same performance category

            My Tab S9 FE has 6GB of RAM, S7 FE has 4GB. Apps get suspended all the time and sometimes Chrome tabs need to reload if you got too many open.

            In terms of how fast web pages load and render I believe the S9 FE has the edge. Haven't had the time to drag race them yet but I know the Exynos Mali GPU is pretty garbage seeing how slow it handles games.

    Yes update. Love mine, extra width is great to have 2 windows open at once. I wouldn't go back to a smaller screen. I installed gboard keyboard so you can separate the keyboard and type with your thumbs. You can use Dex with a Lenovo Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth mouse and it will be very close to a laptop running similar to Windows. Install Niagara and Vivaldi and it will be easier to use, and browse the internet.

    Get the fe plus
    I traded in a old galaxy watch, some good deals now. I still have a iPad mini which has a very smooth operating system, but just a drama trying to transfer files or music. Android I can transfer easy and side load programs.
    The fe plus is worth the extra money wider but not too wide

    Ended up with the 11inch s9 FE in mint colour from Office Works.. $524.

    A question..has anyone lost the stylus yet ..hows the magnet to hold it going? Do you have a case, if so what one?
