Refurbished Dell Desktops 7070 i5 Vs 7070 i7 Vs 7080 i5

Hi all,

Could i please have some help between the three PC's below?
The 7080 seems like the best deal but i don't know much about computers.

I'm mainly browsing and backing up the iphone, so i gather most people would say the 7070 i5 would suffice, so is the $70 difference worth it to go with the 7080 i5?
Not sure if it makes a difference but it'll be connected to 2 x Dell 27" 4K monitors

If you need now, go with the $329 9th gen, I dont think you're not going to notice the $70 difference (10th gen has 6 Core, 12 threads where as 9th gen has 6 core, 6 threads)

If you're not in a rush, wait for the sub $200 7060 deals to come back. The difference from 8th to 10th is very minor, still built on the decade old 14nm process with barely any improvement.

For just web browsing any of them will kick arse. No need for 16g ram, no need for I7… also no need for 256g SSD….

I'd say 16gb ram is a nice to have, but yes don't really need an i7.

But you NEED 256GB or higher SSD, HDD is a no go for sure.

      • Its all nice to have…
But for web surfing, youtubing none of it is needed.

Although for those prices whose going to complain…

The 7080 you've linked does have a reasonably more powerful CPU than the i5-9500T 7070… but to be completely frank, if you're just doing basic web browsing and general PC tasks, either will be more than capable. The 9500T model should also use a lot less power (only relevant if you're planning to leave it turned on for extended periods of time).

At this price point though, I would probably suggest going for a brand new mini PC…
Something like this $450 5700U Ryzen model is more powerful, more energy efficient, twice the storage - and is brand new.

Cheaper versions can also be had for around $370 with a CPU that's still faster than the 9500T

  • I'm using an optiplex 9020 as my home desktop.

Does the job for internetting, watching movies, playing civ 4.

It has a 2gb graphics card to run twin 22" AOC monitors. 12gb ram, 512gb ssd.

Optiplex was $80, Graphics card was $20 , ram $5, ssd $40. Monitors - one was a curb side pickup, and the other (same model) was $10 off ebay.

For your monitors you'd want a card with decent onboard memory
