  • Fairly small, better off with bigger model and WiFi connectivity. RRP is pretty overinflated.

    • do you have an example? I'm getting lots of condensation in the mornings lately

          This is a completely different product - compressor vs desiccant

            @timmyd: If you've got condensation on your windows you've got a hell of a lotta humidity to dry, a desiccant one won't do the job properly or efficiently.

              @Damonator84: Disagree and depends on situation. I have condensation on my windows in the living/dining areas but don't heat that area hence it's pretty cold overnight (<15C as it's 15C in the hallway). My desiccant dehumidifier (similar performance/size to OPs) reduces it to minimal condensation. Stops overnight as the tank is full so if I had continuous drainage it may remove all condensation.

              @Damonator84:

              a desiccant one won't do the job properly or efficiently.

              This is entirely wrong.

              Whether you need a compressor or a desiccant model, depends on the temperature of your room. Compressor modles don't work very well at low temps, and in this scenario a desiccant model will do a better job. Conversely, if you're in somewhere hot like Darwin, you'll need a compressor model.

          OP has posted a deal for a desiccant dehumidifier. The humidifier linked by Damonator84 is a compressor dehumidifier. Which is the right dehumidifier depends on room size but also the general temperature of the room. If it is heated warm room then a compressor dehumidifier works well. If it is an unheated room (e.g. laundry, living areas overnight, bathrooms) in a cool climate then a desiccant dehumifier is generally a better choice. From my research, at ~21C both types are equivalent.

  • I need a dehumidifier for keeping dust mites at bay (recommendation is to maintain 35% to 50% humidity). It'll only be used in a 4x4 carpeted room in Melbourne. Would this be a good dehumidifier for this purpose?

      Yes, it would. It will use 300W to 650W per hour so keep an eye on the electricity bill.
