      Yeah already just edited.

Edit: Would you recommend any of these boxes? I'm already in enough trouble for buying the 151. Are these worth the Wrath of God Wife?

      • +3

The answer is always yes. Let her open packs too, for some reason my mrs always gets the hits and I think that gets me out of trouble

      • +2

There's a great chase card on the paldea evolved and paldean fates.. they're both 200+ for the card, so definitely worth the price.. especially the paldea evolved for the magikarp $3.33 per pack is awesome, ends up being $120 for a booster box equivalent

        • I'm just going to get one of each for now. Thanks for the input guys!

        • don't forget $10 off $50 sign up

          • @shap08: The code never arrived.

            • @T-man: Yeah I am also getting an error now.

  • Mate - pretty good deal! Just ordered 2x Paldea evolved and 1x Paldean fates. Thanks!

  • Paldean Fates is the most valuable set of the new Scarlet & Violet series. Currently USD 945 market value for all 329 cards. So $49 for the ETB is a good price.

But having said that, the $62 ETBs I got from Amazon had very bad pull rates, pretty much no hits in several boxes. I hope the target ones are better.

    • +2

i think thats just the general pull rates of PF. They've been pretty bad for a lot of people.. watched some guy open a whole case and got nothing from it

      • I did read that somewhere. I'm just starting out so I'm not so worried about pull rates for now. If I don't get into too much trouble buying some boxes now maybe I can get some more down the track.

        • now is a good time to buy stuff as it's EOFY. There are booster boxes for ~$150 which is really good to start collecting or chasing cards.. really worth buy boxes, even if you hold on to them to sell later. I bought a fustion strike BB on ebay plus for $140 and now it's $300+

          • @Da dpG: Sell it! Good luck getting any good pulls out of Fusion Strike :)

            • @cbrbargain: Yeah definitely selling this one, as much as I want to open it haha..
Gonna keep it a while longer though

      • I got some shiny mews from the Premium collection boxes. Maybe they are the ones to get, not the ETBs.

  • The Booster bundle is Click & Collect only.

    • Thanks, will update.

  • +1

targets stock management is so bad, and the checkout is buggy as anything..

    • Yeah I noticed that last time they tried to clear stuff. When I was at the store there was a staff member looking through the pokemon section for stuff too.

    • +1

That’s right … ordered two BB and then got cancelled due to insufficient stock, lol.

      • happened to me.
So i went down to the store and they had soo much out on display.

I ended up picking up my click and collect order, then buying the items that got cancelled from the order lol.
no idea why they didnt just accept the complete order..

        • Were the items you bought instore part of the early sale? If so, were you able to get the sales price instore?
I'm having no luck with click and collect online orders.

  • Great deal, ordered two 2 Paldean fates. Thanks

  • +1

Got a few of the Paldea Evolved 6-packs with click and collect. I opened one and got a Maushold. Not too bad, better than any card I got from three booster boxes for $152 at Amazon.

    • +1

      this man rips

    • +1

Second 6-pack had a golden super rod. These boxes are definitely worth the money!
      All gone now it seems.

  • I've always wondered how this tcgs like this aren't considered introduction to gambling for kids aye

    • Definitely an introduction to collecting/hoarding; that's what got me started back in the day.

      • as next gen are priced out of property and assets, stay at home and have disposable income, this stuff will continue to thrive.

        • It also depends a lot on your personality type and how predisposed you are to addictive/compulsive behaviours.

If you're an OCD type, then collecting/hoarding of one form of memorabilia/collectibles will quickly lead to others.

    • +3

It’s definitely gambling and should be restricted/banned. It’s like buying a lottery ticket or a scratchy. Just the amount you can win is much lower. You win some you lose more.

      • Just the amount you can win is much lower. You win some you lose more.

It's all relative. If you were collecting back in the late 90s/early 2000s and you held onto those holos/1st editions from the early sets/series, the appreciation/ROI is something not equalled in almost any other investment options. A $5-10 booster pack in the year 2000 could have netted you a card worth $50-150K in today's Pokemon TCG market. A lot of valuable trading card games are less volatile and more predictable than the stock market and certainly no worse than cryptocurrency or other popular speculative investments.

There are degenerate gamblers and calculated-risk gamblers and the line that separates "investing" from "gambling" is very thin and largely dependant on the personality spending the money. People who blow huge sums on incredibly risky speculative ventures are the kind who will generally squander any wealth/fiscal security they have regardless of whether they're gambling or not because of fundamental psychological issues.

        • Unless you’re doing competitive gaming I can’t see how these are anything else but speculative. It’s not like you’re buying a share in a business with the expectation of generating cash flow.

          • @tsk2: Shares/stocks are just as speculative. What separates gambling from investing is the person. If you have zero self-control and moderation then yeah, you'll wind up a degenerate gambler. That doesn't take away from the fact that it's entirely possible to make a fortune from reselling rare Pokemon cards.

            • @Miami Mall Alien: I don’t think any of the Pokemon cards you can buy here in 2023/2024 will ever be rare and make a fortune. They sell billions of cards every year, half of the expensive ones are immediately slabbed.
Just look at how many PSA10 Umbreons are on sale at eBay.

                @cbrbargain:

I don’t think any of the Pokemon cards you can buy here in 2023/2024 will ever be rare and make a fortune.

I could say the same for any number of stock/share options, cryptocurrencies or even physical assets people are investing in now. It'll probably take years and years for any of them to mature and appreciate to a meaningful ROI. The ASX lost 1.3% in value back in April. That's millions of dollars wiped out.

Again, I fail to see the distinction here other than one form of investment has the stamp of societal-approval because… tradition.

You could take this argument to an abstract/theoretical level and bring in fiat currency and fractional reserve banking, all of which make Pokemon cards seem as legitimate as mediums of tangible wealth like gold and silver are by comparison. The global economic/financial system is predicated on air-fairy, magical make-believe nonsense with very little actual tangible assets or collateral backing up any of it in 2024; it's a bit rich claiming stuff like Pokemon cards aren't "real investments" when your stocks/shares, crypto, precious metals and housing can lose huge percentages of its value or even become absolutely worthless overnight. It's all gambling, it's just that most people engaging in officially-sanctioned forms of speculative gambling delude themselves into thinking it's anything but.

  • Only recently started playing ptcg with my son. Guess this is more a collector thing rather than player. Finding that buying singles etc better for IRL ptcg .

Greater fool theory in action collecting. Play a bit of proxy card stuff before we buy singles.

I got two for $10, it glitched the discount because they didnt have stock for my order

Mabosstiff boxes for $20 are not worth it in my opinion. I thought it comes with a silver tempest but has 2 paradox rift, 1 obsidian flames and 1 scarlet and violet. I didn’t get any good pulls out of 3 boxes.

I’d rather buy 4 paradox rift packs for $20 at eb games and get a free promo card. They usually go up in value.

  • Bought a bunch of PE bundles earlier, got an email saying they don't have enough stock and have to refund 2. Might be getting a bit lucky with it as they said to expect a refund of $80 for those 2 within the next 7 days. The ETBs are looking pretty tempting at that price too.

  • Also saw some temporal forces ETB on clearance for $49. Added to my cart to check stock levels looks like 5 or 6 at time of post.

Thanks OP, I pulled 3 magikarp from 62 boosters. Very stoked!!!

    • Think you accidentally took my boosters and i have yours.

      :o how good!

    • score! what a rip

  • My local target was called and asked if they could leave the boosters in the original box/container

    • Lol must be someone new surely .

  • Do you need Onepass to get it for $49? That's the only option I can see

  • Got 2 cases of PF ETBs. Cheers OP

    • 20 items?

      • indeed

        • this man invests

    • Any good pulls? So far these ETBs are even worse than the Mabosstiff boxes for me.

      • I just keep them sealed. Came as 2 sealed cases when i purchased 20 for click and collect

  • Had no luck with online orders earlier in the week.
Found 1x Paldean Fates ($49) at Indooroopilly (Brisbane) tonight and 1x Paldea Evolved boost bundle ($20) at Brookside.
Checked out other stores (Kmart / Big W / Mr Toys) for stock. Big W said they don't price match anymore. Mr Toys (Brookside) said they would only be able to reduce Evolved by 30% max (from $42) but didn't have stock.
    Zilch anywhere at Chermside.

Still don't really understand what these are all about but hoping that my niece, who actually plays, will be happy with them. Figuring she can trade them for whatever she does actually use as a worst case.

Mr Toys at Indooroopilly had plenty of Evolved boosters ($48?) and at least one Fates box ($99) but I didn't ask about price matching there. In case anyone wants to give it a shot.

If you have a credit card with price protection insurance, check out your policy terms.

Some let you make a claim if the item is purchased from a different store.

Buy the more expensive one where there is stock, make a claim for reimbursement for targets lower price.

This is how i got a bunch of mine done.

      • Thanks @amityaaron. 👍
I wasn't even aware that was an option. I'll look into it.
