Qantas Health Insurance (NIB) - Is It Worth It?

Hi OzBargain community,

I’m currently considering switching my health insurance from Medibank Private to Qantas Health Insurance to take advantage of their promotion offering up to 140,000 Qantas points.

I’m currently on the following:
• Basic Plus Healthy Start Hospital Essentials 75
• Cost: Approximately $120 per month

I was just wondering if the points promotion is worth the potential hassle and any differences in coverage?

Any insights, experiences, or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

  • Read the PDS to make benefit comparisons

The PDS just says “dunno lol ask Ozb”

How many points are you actually getting?

  • I switched from HCF to Qantas/NIB, QFF points not being part of my equation. When Qantas first entered I found their prices were high. When I checked in 2021 the HCF agent who had come from cross-market comparison conceded they couldn't price match. Not sure what the siituation is today. A tip: If you have the cash flow pay next year's annual premium before 31 March to beat the price rise.

    • Not a good tip. The real tip is to change insurances and get half of year for free :)

      • how do you get half of year for free?
