use a disposible card with aexact ammount
    or donate big to Gerry.

    Or Jeff in this case.

  • Whats some decent pliers to just have around the house. You know those annoying times you need some sort of plier and all you own is a spoon and a tent peg

Note the discounted price is inflated so it makes it seem like a very good deal.

Look at the regular price below the discounted price, does not match up.

Decent deal but a little false advertising.

    • +1

Most are historical low (at least from what I've checked).

good deal, bought some fancy knippers

  • Is that lead catcher/clamp thingy useful or annoying on the Knipex Pliers: 78 71 125 ($19.03 ones) ?
It sort of looks like it would get in the way

    • Looks like removable, perhaps people who has it can confirm.

    • +1

It's removable, and annoying. Useful if you were doing a lot of through hole PCB work though.

To me it is very handy. I mostly use mine for cutting cable ties at work, and usually in tight spaces. So it holding the cut off bit saves me having to find it and pick it out, so much easier.

      • That's what I've been using mine for.

    • +1

It really depends on what you are doing and where you are doing it. If you don't want the cut outs to fly off it is useful but gets old if you need to make many cuts. Only useful if you are cutting end bits off. If you are cutting legs off electronic components they usually won't fly off anyway as they are heavy so I prefer cutters without the catcher

      • Do you know if the cutting profile/angle is the same as the regular ones?

        • +1

Yes they are flat on bottom side so your cut will be as close as is possible to your cut mark. Edit…I don't know what you mean by regular ones. They make ones with and without a bevel and even one with a small bevel. But the one with a wire catcher is the same as the same model without a wire catcher and they have no bevel

    • +1

It depends on whether or not what you cut tends to fly away. It's not really an issue with stranded insulated wires but more with stiffer component leads or single-core cable where a small flying metal bit can be dangerous for eyes.

You can slide the catcher off if you don't like it.

      • Yyes I have pulled my fair share of leads up off the carpet - sounds actually usual when cleaning up a PCB

  • Thanks OP! Been waiting for these to pop up again.

  • Heres a puzzle Can anyone spot the difference between these two?

    https://www.knipex.com/products/electronics-pliers/electroni…

There must be something or they wouldn't make the two varieties but I cant see it!

    • Only difference I can see is that the 78 81 125 also cuts hard wire up to 0.6 Ø mm

      • That must be it - a more hardened metal edge

    • +1

      78 61 125
Ground, very sharp cutting edges without bevel

      78 81 125
Precision-ground cutting edges with very small bevel suitable also for hard wire

  • Which one is good for Gundam model?

  • Anyone recommend good value side cutters about 200mm length. I go through them too quickly. I usually use them for processing ewaste and can't find a decent pair. Currently using Irwin's which are ok but don't last. Any other recommendations? also I don't like the thin sleeves as they always seem to slide off the damn handles when I use them so I usually go for the thick molded plastic ones

  • Ended up going with
