Pulled trigger on the last deal - this was after reading reviews in whirlpool and Karl (from Ausbed's) comment from sometime ago. Have to say it is not as firm as I liked, definitely a medium firm feel for me personally. I'm also not a fan of the ribbed grooves on the mattress. None of these are deal breakers and I would most likely be keeping mine, but just thought to post my two cents.

Ribbed grooves are usually for the women :)

    • I also found the grooves weird after coming from a Sleeping Duck. I think I’m used to it now though.

      • Better or worse mattress than sleeping duck?

        • I like both of them. Quite similar but the SR is definitely more of a medium feel than SD (at least with my config). I don’t think you could go wrong choosing either

      • Actually keen on the SD feedback as well.

Have you looked at Emma Sleep? Highly recommend for anyone with shoulder or back pain. It helped my wife and I for what it matters.

          • @Akamrbungle: Thanks.
Yeh. Have been looking at all the big players in these online ones. SD and Emma are the current 2 in my consideration

Had a SD since 2017 and it’s amazing. I’ve never had an issue with the firmness I like it how it is, but you can call them and get the firmness changed as part of the purchase after care

    • A little update: I have since decided to return the SR mattress. After about a month of use the top started to soften up and was really giving me backpain. I have started the return process but it looks like its taking alot longer than anticipated - definitely not as easy as they said. Haven't returned a mattress before so do let me know if this is the standard.. An advice is to keep the plastic packing as they are fussy about dust/hair on the mattress - luckily i did so its in pristine condition.

"Due to ongoing labour shortages and high demand, some of The Salvos are experiencing delays in their collection service. Most locations can be done within 21 business days but some locations can take up to 42 business days to get booked in and collected. We ask for your patience but if you urgently need to return the mattress you can drop it off to your local charity and with proof of return we will immediately process your refund."

I have opted to a Sleeping Duck Mattress and have to say that they are way more supportive. There is still a layer of foam (gravity foam they call it) thats quite soft, after placing a kmart wool topper it feels nice and firm.

  • I need extra firm mattress.

    • Buy one then. I got a queen size from them a few days ago and lasted one night, woke up in so much pain because it just had no give at all. Also not a fan of the lack of padding around the sides, feeling the springs poking out isn't particularly pleasant.

  • Loved ours for ages but maybe it’s time for a new frame or I’m just getting old but sometimes wake up pretty sore.

    • How many years is 'ages'?

      • Damn thought it was way earlier but it was only early 2021 lol

Man, I've got cans of food older than that :)

Haven't kept track of prices but I feel like these mattresses are always on sale. Bought a king back in 2020 for $1,299.

Having said that, this has easily been the most comfortable mattress I've used (rotated through a couple and this is the best). The pocket springs are excellent for not noticing when your partner rolls over in the middle of the night.

I returned my one within the 100 day return period. Found mine too soft for a firm mattress and felt unbearably hot at times.

Purchased a decent spring mattress instead and haven’t looked back.

    • What mattress you bought to replace SR?

    • This is spring mattress isn't it

  • Bought the kids mattress for our toddler for his first bed a week and a bit ago. We needed something we too can lie on when settling or needing to lie in his bed with him and it feels amazing so far, very impressed

  • Does Ozb have any recommendations for extra firm or ultra firm king mattresses? I have been using zzz atelier since last 4 years and though it served well (10/10 on firmness which I love) it has sagged a lot and it is really frustrating. Any leads please?

Or use code BBEOFY24 for 20% which is slightly better than 5% off of 15% off :) 0.75% overall better.
