Qatar Silver Additional Luggage - Virgin Domestic Luggage Allowance

Hi Ozbers,

I will be flying from Berlin - Brisbane via Sydney. The Berlin-Doha-Sydney is with Qatar Airlines. I am a Qatar silver member which allows me to carry an additional 15kg of luggage. Sydney-Brisbane is with Virgin Airlines.

Maybe someone in the community has faced the same issue. Would Virign accept the additional 15kg luggage on the Domestic portion of the travel considering that Qatar allows the additional luggage for the international portion of the travel? I purchased the ticket using a Virgin rewards seat (i.e., using points), which has made things more complicated.

Qatar has confirmed that I can carry the additional luggage for the QR flights. Qatar and Virgin are saying to ask the other airline about the additional luggage allowance for the VA domestic flight, so I am getting nowhere with customer service.

    According to the Virgin website: If you have booked a one-way or return trip using Velocity Frequent flyer Points or Points & Pay to book a ‘Reward’ seat, then the checked baggage allowance of the partner airline operating the international flight segments on the ticket will apply to the full trip.

    The Reward seat icon will display next to the flight you are selecting.

    if on one booking, the baggage tag printed at BER should show BNE - you'll need to pick it up and drop it off at the domestic check-in right after customs at SYD.
    The VA attendant will be scanning the existing QR bag tag and it will be accepted for travel onwards to BNE.

    Make sure the bag is not more than 32kgs as otherwise it will not be accepted in Australia.

    As with QR to Australia, your checked luggage is a maximum of kgs, you can share the weight between two or more bags if necessary.

    QR benefits with VA do not extend to extra luggage compared to EY or SQ if booked on stand-alone bookings.
