Free Indoor Climbing (~$30 Value) for First Time Visitors - Saturday 13/7/2024 @ Urban Climb, BlockHaus & The North Face

160

North Face the outdoor brand is running Global Climbing Day on 13th July 2024 again. However they seem to have limited it to Movement climbing gyms in the USA and I can't find any reference this year for Australian gyms, besides to Urban Climb and BlockHaus. I've checked website, Facebook and Instagram of both AUNZ and USA North Face sites.

Urban Climb itself seems to be tagging along with this celebration. However they do have gyms in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia. BlockhausMelb is the only other climbing gym I've found so far celebrating Global Climbing Day with free entry. Before restricting it to those states mentioned in the first sentence of this paragraph could someone please check other sites? I've asked North Face for comments.

From "Harness the Community":

Global Climbing Day means free* admission (including gear hire) for all first time visitors to Urban Climb, across all of our gyms!

Join us around the world to celebrate Global Climbing Day on July 13, 2024 together. The community is waiting—see you on the walls.

*Terms & Conditions

  • Must be your first visit to any Urban Climb
  • You must complete a safety demo before climbing
  • All other Urban Climb rules and policies apply
  • Age restrictions apply in some of our venues. Find out more here.

UPDATE: North Face AUNZ marketers should be fired :P Please see https://thenorthface.com.au/globalclimbingday.html with all states included.

  • it has always been free for first climbers + 2 weeks free after that

    • Yes for global climbing day but not at other times. I think you maybe confused with weekly debit members get a free entry once a month for a friend.

Otherwise please link to where Urban Climb states this? You still have to pay full price entry to get two weeks free normally.

        https://urbanclimb.com.au/first-time-here/

looks like it's with a paid visit

          Thanks for looking into it.

So this Global Climbing Day is different in that it's free entry. I'm not sure if Urban Climb is generous to also give an extra two weeks free as well for the free visit on GCD.

        • @Musiclover Why are you upvoting incorrect information?

          • -1

@brisdaz: Downvoting police? Lol. I hate it when people are downvoted in general. He has not said anything rude or rediculous. It is a standard practice in all gyms to have first session for free especially if you negotiate it. This post in itself to me looks like a sneaky ad, not a deal.

            • +2

@Musiclover: Not for climbing gyms. I'm not associated with the gym but an enthusiastic climber and long time member.
If you feel it's an ad feel free to report it.

But as @askbargain himself posted in the parent comment this is incorrect for this gym @Musiclover

Let me know how to get this free pass because I'd be interested in trying out all of the climbing gyms in Australia if I have time.

              • @brisdaz: You talk to a trainer/manager. Have you actually tried asking? I would suggest developing your communcation skills instead of downvoting people - a whole new world will open up for you.

              • +1

@brisdaz: Just win a few World Cups ez /s

(You'll still have to do a safety induction though)

I've worked in climbing gyms and climbed in many gyms across the country over the past decade. None have free first-time visits unless you're a guest of a member, competing at an event the gym is hosting, or maybe work in industry (and even that isn't a free pass most of the time).

Climbing gyms are far more labour intensive than regular gyms due to constantly changing routes and greater safety requirements. It's also rare for the family fun day to be at the local gym vs a climbing gym.

            • @Musiclover: Up voted you in support

NSW is also supported by blockhaus.

Blockhaus sydney opens till 10pm on Saturday - https://syd.blochaus.com.au/about/

    • Post updated with information about all states.

  • Cheers OP.
