Brake Pads for Factory M130 Men's/Ladies Mountain Bikes

I bought the factory M130 last year from this deal:

I'm wondering if anyone who bought it knows how long the brake pads generally last for before needing replacement. And, what specific brake pad is required.

Thanks!

  • Depends on your weight, how often you ride, what sort of riding you do, what sort of brake pads they came with (organic, metallic, semi-metallic).

But disk brake pads last for absolutely ages. Well over a year, unless you weigh 150kg and ride downhill regularly in the rain.

And, what specific brake pad is required.

No idea- you should post the relevant bit of information- what brakes they are, instead of a generic link to a deal. Or take them to a bike shop.

  • The link says 160mm Tektro disc rotors but what model is the caliper? Look this up and you'll find the pads.

  • They should last ages, but a cheap bike like that might have ultra cheap pads that wear faster. If they are tektro pads, pull one out and look at the shape then google tektro replacement disc pads or other variations til you find the right shape. It would seem unlikely that the pads will be a different shape to all other tektro pads. And tektro also have some interchangeability with shimano.

You might have a hard time getting help at a bike shop unless you e got the pad in your hand to show them. Bike shops dont like working onnsuch cheap bikes.

  • Thanks for the comments. I was hoping to find the specs online, so that i could buy a spare set without removing my current pads to check the shape. But it sounds like that's just what I'll have to do.

    • While you're removing your pads, check out the caliper model on your bike. This is actually how you order them. Tektro makes at least 12 different disc pads.

    • Look up how to remove/replace pads before you try it. If you get your fingerprints all over the brake surface, the brakes will squeal like a pig.

  • +1

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person who owns a casual mountain bike that has ever used it enough to warrant new pads.

Usually they get used like a sub $100 drone… used and abused a few times and never see the light of day again after going into storage.

I doubt they have any brand specific pads but surely a bike shop could find some suitable ones (and probably charge you half of the bikes value 😂)
