Before anyone asks, you can only use one discount code, so you cannot stack a referral code on top of this promo code. It's one or the other.

  • What speed they are offering at this price?

    • +2

Typical evening Speeds - Variable to a Max 70M/8M - on the $75/m plan discount isn't valid for the lower tier one

      • Correct. The promo only applies to the red plan on the linked page, not the teal one.

  • Wireless…so this is over…5G?

    • Seems to be over NBN but worded this way to avoid the minimum speed guarantee

"NBN Fixed Wireless is subject to carrier congestion which means you might not reach these speeds" mentioned on just about every page in the fine print

      • +1

It's not a fine print, seems to be quite prominent on the CIS 😁

Seemes the Telstra 5G Home Internet in the other deal is a better choice if the service covers your area, if you don't mind 1000G data limit.

        • This Telstra service is not available in many areas covered by NBN Fixed Wireless. I checked our place for availability and it came up negative.

This is nbn Fixed Wireless. The discount applies to nbn FW Plus, which is the fastest FW plan currently available. nbn are in the process of upgrading all FW towers. This process is supposed to be completed by the end of this year. nbn will announce two new faster plans shortly. These faster speeds will be available to most nbn FW premises whose tower has been upgraded. You will also need a new V4 antenna and a new NTD. These will be provided and installed for free when you apply for one of these new plans.

  • The speed mentioned is quite confusing. Are those in MB/s as oppose to the usual mbps (byte vs bit)??

    • nbn's Fixed Wireless Plus is rated at 75/10Mbps. In practice, depending on time of day and evening contention, you will get less than that.

It seems all your history on OzB are around Future Broadband, is there a reason you're not marked as rep for FBB-related listings?

I love this ISP and have been a customer for almost six years. I have them at two locations, one FW and one FTTP. Furthermore, I am in no way associated with the company and I don't own any shares in ActivePort, their parent company. I am known as an FBB fanboy, and that's OK. I am not a rep and do not receive any benefits from FBB. I pay my internet bills like everyone else.

To explain where I come from, I am a person who appreciates quality, particularly when it comes at an affordable price. FBB poses no threat to the big boys, but I understand your concern as I have been actively promoting this great WA RSP. I must be doing a pretty good job if I am suspected of being a rep.

        Thanks for sharing.

      • What state do you live in? Does it matter?

        • +1

We live in WA but it doesn't matter as FBB serves all of Australia. Support is based in Perth. You can check their support hours on the website. I find the quickest and easiest way to contact them is via live chat on their website.

Ive had FBB for over 2 years. I'm in Sydney. I've been very happy with them - never had a problem and always get top speeds; only really spoke with them once when setting up but they were very helpful.

I'm on a grandfathered plan which is better than the current ones, I think. But I would recommend them.

          • +1

@ASA: I'm also on two grandfathered plans. That's another positive for FBB. They will leave you on a grandfathered plan for years.

can’t believe nbn rsp charging join fees today

    • I agree. It's unfortunate but I'm glad it didn't stop me from joining them. I understand it's a stumbling block for many a potential customer.

  • +1

What's the point of charging a join fee then a discount on the first month?

    • The setup fee has been a constant on all FBB plans since day dot. The discount more than makes up for it.

  • +1

Yeah, never looked back after joining FBB. I have no idea how many years it's been now, and it's definitely a perk that they don't try to kick you off the plan you joined up on…… unlike other ISPs I shall not name.

    • +1

Oh yeah, I'm in Melbourne VIC. Never had a problem with their HQ being in WA.

I can recommend their network for reliability and being drama free. I used them for a number of years. Support is very good for urgent matters. You get to deal with people high up in the food chain strait away so definitely nobody reading a script. My only complaint would be: They can be slow to action things deemed not urgent like a minor plan change etc.

    • If things are moving too slow, it's best to hit them up on live chat. For example, a speed change doesn't normally take effect until the first of the following month so, if you want it to happen straight away, jump on live chat and they will do it there and then.

  • My experience with FBB is via FTTP, they will provide (within their control) a rock solid connection and good support - international speeds/latency leave a lot to be desired.

Not sure how the above translates to Fixed wireless but I'm guessing the traffic is all routed the same so the caveat still probably applies.

As a FBB tragic, would that be a fair appraisal @ozimarco?

    • It's well-known that FBB's international routing is not ideal. That's why I don't recommend FBB to people who game internationally. Their national routing and peering arrangements are second to none. That's not to say that a gamer will not have a good experience but it would depend. As an international gamer, I would choose Launtel or Leaptel.

      • +2

No, it's not well known by anyone unfamiliar with FBB, when extolling the virtues of Future Broadband it's always a good idea to mention the downsides as well - you know how sensitive gamer's get when it comes to increased latency.

Thanks for pointing it out. My bad for not remembering to mention it.
