Thanks OP. I've been waiting for the blu-ray release of "The Prisoner" TV series with Patrick McGoohan. It was released today and discounted tonight. Sometimes the stars just align and I saved myself $24.

    UHD Dune 2 < $30

I’ll be taking my receipt from Monday last week for the Steelbook of Dune: Part 2 into JB HiFi during my lunch break tomorrow and requesting for the different to be refunded under their price drop policy.

    • +1

      D2 steelbook sold out, ahhhhhhhh!!

    • What's there price drop policy?

      • +1

If the item you purchase from them reduces in price within 14 days after buying it, or a competitor has a cheaper price during this period, JB HiFi will refund the balance of what you paid above the cheaper price. I can’t be bothered trying to find where on their website it’s mentioned right this moment, but here is a link to a news article from last year that is specifically reporting about it:

        https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/the-little-known-jb-hi-fi-hac…

I’ve known about this policy of JB HiFi’s for a long time, they used to offer it for longer than 14 days, from vivid memory it was a maximum of 30 days… 90 days is probably me dreaming, however 90 days at some point does vaguely enter my mind.

Waiting for Buy 1 get 1 free.

    • +3

You’ll be waiting another 11 months for JB HiFi’s next buy 1 get 1 free BD/4K sale, since 2016 it only comes around once annually.

      • -2

It is more than once a year.

        • +4

No it’s not Congo, you’re 100% incorrect. I know for a fact that you won’t be able to provide any evidence to backup your claim, so you should probably stop right here, and remain silent rather than responding again. You are mistaking JB HiFi’s buy 2 get 1 free BD/4K promo with JB HiFi’s Buy 1 get 1 free on all BD/4K promo which has only happened once a year every May since 2016.

            • @Notatightass: I’m not sure whether you are being sarcastic or not. Check the BD bargain thread on Blu-ray.com, the history will show that the JB HiFi B1G1F BD/4K sale has happened only once a year in May since 2016. I was the member on Blu-ray with the same username as I use here on OzBargain that confirmed the sale before anyone else did publicly most years (accept for 1 year I believe when I was going through my divorce)… I was a member of Blu-ray.com from 2010-2020 when I was permanently banned from that site, I have posted about the sale in the bargain thread there using other usernames since then.

              • @Cevolution: Read my post below, I've accepted you challenge and I have won. You must now accept defeat.

2 for $32 is effectively the same thing if buying the more expensive 4k discs

            • +4

@Notatightass: Rotfl, it’s irrelevant whether JB have had similar promo sales, Congo said JB HiFi’s buy 1 get 1 free BD/4K promo sale happens more often than once a year, when he’s wrong and it doesn’t. End of story, game over.

              • -2

@Cevolution: If you can get two 4k discs which are individually priced at $40 for $32, it is effectively 2 for 1.

Getting picky about specific wording doesn't change anything.

                I'm sorry but I've won.

                • +5

@Notatightass: There is always someone on the internet that seems to argue for the sake of it essentially for no reason. Your argument is not valid. The discussion was specifically about JB HiFi’s official buy 1 get 1 free promo, not any other simply because pricing may closely match. JB HiFi’s promo that’s titled “B1G1F” has only ever happened once a year.

                  • -3

@Cevolution: There is always someone on the internet that seems to argue for the sake of it essentially for no reason. - this is you

I refer you to my previous comment which is correct.

If you can get two 4k discs which are individually priced at $40 for $32, it is effectively 2 for 1.

Getting picky about specific wording doesn't change anything.

                    I'm sorry but I've won.

                    • @Notatightass: On the contrary, that describes you perfectly, otherwise you wouldn’t have pointlessly responded to my original comment in the first trying to argue semantics. What are you trying prove? Your entire argument is not correct at all, and where it falls apart is that the official JB HiFi buy 1 get 1 free BD/4K promo includes every single individual Blu-ray and 4K movie title, all BD/4K TV series, as well as all box sets. No other JB promotion includes the entire range.

                      • -4

@Cevolution: Not trying to prove anything. I did prove you are wrong.

                        You're playing semantics.

You pay for the price of one 4k blu ray -20% off and you get two movies. Therefore you get two 4k movies for the price of one. Whether or not it's their officially worded 2 for 1 makes no difference. If you're buying the more expensive discs $32 and above, it's 2 for 1, just not specifically worded that way in the offer.

                        I pay for 1 movie get 2.

                        lol it's pretty simple.

                        • @Notatightass: You’ve proved I’m wrong in your own twisted mind that’s about it. You haven’t presented a single piece of evidence that JB HiFi’s official buy 1 get 1 free on all BD/4K titles happens more than once a year, and you’re not going to because you can’t.

        • We won congo.

          • +2

@Notatightass: Won what, a night in a hotel together?

            • +1

@Cevolution: We won a divorce and a 10 year ban from a bluray forum.

              • @Notatightass: And you gained a new boyfriend, Congo.

                • @Cevolution: Cool, we can look deep into each others eyes as we discuss how it's not surprising you got the ban and the divorce.

                  • +1

@Notatightass: I don't know if this comment thread is a joke but it's been an amazing ride.

                  • @Notatightass: It sounds like you’re into some weird shit if you both discuss me while having a romantic moment, you’re both heading for divorce if you prefer to do that rather than satisfying each other.

Your constant reference to my banning assumes that you believe I care about it. It’s just a forum, who gives a fook… I wasted my time on that site for years, contributing to making to owners of the site more wealthy giving my time for free providing members and the sites database with accurate information.

In your previous post you said “we”, who’s we? Is there a good reason why you have weirdly teamed up with members Congo, and have run to their defence? You seem to have been pretty quick to jump on my comments, is there something I should know, you’re not some loser I have encountered before and pissed off are you?

                    • @Cevolution: Lmao, you're so unintentionally hilarious. Why are you taking this so seriously?

Satisfy each other? hahaha what are you even talking about.

" who gives a fook… I wasted my time on that site for years, contributing to making to owners of the site more wealthy giving my time for free providing members and the sites database with accurate information." - Sounds like you give a fook, why even bring it up, no one asked or about your divorce for that matter.

                      Anyways, thanks for the laughs.

                      • @Notatightass: Thank you for the laughs too. After all that nonsense you and Congo have come out of it in the same position you entered the discussion, both of you are wrong about the buy 1 get 1 free sale, and all you have achieved is pointlessly subjecting other members of Ozbargain to a disagreement that wasn’t necessary, distrusting the community here for no good reason.

                        • @Cevolution: Lol my friend, you are the gift that keeps on giving.

How was this pointless? I've got myself a new boyfriend and had a laugh. You've had a laugh and @Snakey Chook has also enjoyed our thread. Sounds like we both enjoyed ourselves and Chook did also, why do you sound bitter about it?

                          • @Notatightass: I’m not bitter at all, except maybe at myself for the fact that I have been stupid enough to waste my time responding to you… You on the other hand appear to like wasting your time bickering with strangers on the internet, and seem to want to spend your time specifically arguing with me.

You stated that you came here to defend member Congo, surely you can see how that might make you look weird publicly to anyone that reads it? You haven’t explained why and what the purpose of your actions have been, any reasonable person would conclude that you have merely been purposely trolling. So far you have failed to prove wrong what my original point was, and the meaning and context of my comment, to make your argument correct. You obviously think your point of view is correct, but from an objective standpoint it’s not.

                            • -3

                              @Cevolution: "I'm not bitter" - cevolution

Proceeds to go on a bitter tirade…

Your lack of self awareness and inability to comprehend a playful comment is astonishing.

Lol this seems like a skit.

But go on, what else do you need to get off your chest?

                              • +2

@Notatightass: It certainly does seem to be skit. That’s a failure on your part not mine.. Your inability to give your comments the context you intend so that they’re comprehended correctly is astounding… Perhaps you should use emojis and emoticons more often like the majority of people do these days if you don’t want your comments to be misinterpreted.

“What else do you need to get off your chest? You clearly want to get on my chest… PM me your email address, I’ll send you a chest pic along with a d*ck pic!

          • @Notatightass: Well done!! Good fun 😁

      • +1

@Cevolution: You seem to be really familiar with these sales so I'd appreciate your insight. Does the 2 for $40 deal come around very often? And does it stack with the 20% off deal often too (like here) or is that more of an error?

I've had my eye on some 4Ks but I'm in no hurry so would rather wait for a better deal if there is one!

(Buy 1 Get 1 Free is good too but 2 for $40 seems cheaper for some 4K TV shows)

        • +1

          Morning RRR999,

JB HiFi often stick to the same promo schedule every year, they have made some slight changes to it over the last year or 2 though. I am unable to check the history of their promo schedule right this moment because I’m at work… Their 2 for $40 4K promo does happen multiple times throughout the year, and sometimes while this promo is on they do offer 20%-30% off on top for short periods, therefore yes you are indeed correct, for some titles this deal can be cheaper than their buy 1 get 1 promo which happens once annually. However, the 2 for $40 promo never includes every single title in the 1080p Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray ranges, whereas the B1G1F promo does.

          • +2

            @Cevolution: Thanks for your insight!

I almost bit the bullet during their 2 for $40 4K deal a few months ago, but I decided to hold out in case they offered it alongside another 20% or 30% off deal in the future. It seems those two rarely stack though, and at random times, so I might just go for it during the next 2 for $40 deal instead.

  • What's the deal with Disney blurays and that still being available? Didn't Disney announce they were going to stop it for Australia?

    • +3

Do you honestly not know the answer to the question? Disney Australia haven’t reprinted a new batch of any title, last year not long after Disney pulled out of the Australian market they requested for all of their stock that retailers still had to be returned to them. At the beginning of this year Australian distributor All Interactive took over Australian distribution of Sony, Universal, and Paramount titles. All Interactive also negotiated with Disney Australia, and were able to secure Disney Australia’s returned Australian stock from them to distribute back to Australian retailers to sell the stock until it’s all gone. That’s why you have seen the restocking of some Disney titles.

      • +4

How do you know the answer to that question? The pull out was well publicised. The return I had no idea about until reading your comment

I just dropped into JB during my lunch break with my receipt for the steelbook of Dune: Part 2 which I purchased Monday last week, to get a reimbursement for the 20% off difference under their price drop policy, and they gave me a 26% off discount… $29.58 for the BD+4K Dune Part 2 Steelbook isn’t too bad (I originally paid $39.98).
