I've used Tick. Didn't need to claim - but an on-again, off-again website experience did leave me wondering…
Safari doesn't work well with their website, Chrome seems to be OK if you mean technical issues.
I have also vowed to neg every TID deal for a similar experience to the above. They are absolute rubbish.
Best Neg ever, thanks for the downlow.
How does travel insurance work on your credit card? We have already purchased flights, does that mean I can’t get a credit card for insurance now?
contact your Credit Card company and double check with them. If you have travel insurance as part of your Credit Card then any family member you purchased the tickets for using that Credit Card should be covered but check to be sure.
@Ausdave thanks for the warning ⚠️
But more so , thanks for the recommendation of TICK travel insurance,
finally another affordable one that includes pre-existing conditions , that used to cost me several 100 $$$ , previously with Covermore, although I never had to claim ever .Be mindful that the coverage for Travel Insurance varies with your Card….generally the more expensive Credit Cards offer better cover, but I've never relied on Credit Card insurance and always buy from Tick or other reliable insurance companies….and please ensure that your cover includes "Emergency Medical Evacuation".
Hi All,
I've vowed to neg every TID post/deal that comes through, this is so people are aware of my bad experience:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/512273
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/482338
Summary on experience:
I had a bad experience claiming with Travel Insurance Direct.
There was an earthquake in Japan and I couldn't travel from Tokyo to Osaka due to damage on the train system.
This resulted in me also not being able to arrive to my Osaka hotel.
TID advised me the train company and hotel should compensate me if it was impacted by the earthquake, not them.
TID also requested I get written evidence from the train and hotel companies advising they won't cover me even before they look into my claim.
What's the point of having travel insurance when they're not covering these scenarios.
My work colleague used their credit card travel insurance with the same scenario and no problems claiming.
I advise you to contact other travel insurances with a few scenarios and how they go about compensation eg., like my scenario.
It may be worth the extra money looking elsewhere.
An alternative:
I've done a ton of research on other travel insurance companies post that experience, Tick Travel Insurance was what I ended up with based on price and what they cover:

They run 15% off promos once in a while.
It's just a suggestion based on my personal experience
