Samsung Galaxy S23+ Refurb $685.62 Good Deal?

I currently have a Galaxy S20, and need to upgrade. But I don't want to pay crazy prices (over $800) for a phone.
Did a little bit of research and I like the S23 range due to the Snapdragon processor.
Found an S23+ 256GB refurb "As New" on eBay from Green Gadgets - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/185927712277?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mk…

With the current eBay coupon available (Code RFB22 22% OFF (RFB20 20% OFF for non-eBay Plus) its $879.00 - $193.38 Discount = Final price $685.62

Is $685.62 a decent deal for a Galaxy S23+ 256GB refurb "As New"?

I'd say that's pretty good. Very recently I picked up a regular sized S23 128gb for $580 second hand. Luckily it ended up being basically new, still had the plastic peel on it. And I thought that was a great deal.

You might be wise to wait for July 10th when Samsung does their event and announces new phones. Might have a price effect on the S23s.

    Personally I wouldn't buy a phone let alone a refurb off EB…
If you have issues its easier to walk into a store than email tennis for weeks and no results….

    YMMV

Green gadgets is a good seller IMO, and the price is quite good as well

  • Appreciate the feedback

  • Can't comment on price, but have bought a few phones from green gadgets recently as they are often pretty good deals with the eBay discount.
Quality has been good. Quite likely you'll get a phone that really does seem brand new.

Keep in mind, they seem to source from overseas. They recently sold me a couple of S23s which came from NZ, and a Japanese iPhone 13 mini with a brand new battery. And many years back from these guys or similar, a 'new' US iPhone.
I don't think it makes much difference, but make sure you check the mobile bands of whatever you receive.

It does make me wonder how they source them. Was the 13 mini a warranty replacement? They seemed to have a batch of them with new batteries

    • Cheers for the info.
Is there any easy way to identify if the phone was sourced from overseas, and if there going to be any compatibility issues?

      • Put the model number into this terribly unintuitive website and try to make any sense of the results https://www.frequencycheck.com/
But most places get the same global model anyway.

Actually the giveaways were that the S23s auto selected New Zealand as their default country on first startup. And one of them still had a NZ SIM card inside.
And the Japanese one had a camera sound that couldn’t be silenced, until I put a SIM card in.

        • Much appreciated. Thanks.

Still crazy to think these were $899 15 months ago, and not that soon after release

  • I think that is a pretty good deal. I bought a refurbed S22+ a while back and you would have thought it was new.

  • Cheers all for the feedback. I pulled the trigger.
Hopefully all goes well with it.

  • Just a heads up, I got an "as new" phone today with a small chip on the screen (but visible while using) and 87% battery health. Make sure to check it closely first, I stupidly didn't and, having migrated from my old phone, need to migrate back again while I wait for a replacement. Now I've noticed the chip (it's clearly visible against a black background, not colours) I'll never be able to unsee it. But the battery is pretty awful.

  • That's a bummer.
Well my S23+ arrived today. No screen issues. No damage to the body of the phone. A couple of small scuffs hardly noticeable.
But the biggest issue is that it's not an S23+ haha. They sent me a S22+. So I've contacted them and organising a return for the correct phone.
