This item can't be delivered to a PO Box delivery location because it is classified as hazardous material.

    WTF?!

    • +4

I don't understand how their delivery works sometimes. They won't send a baby bottle cleaning brush to our PO Box either.

    • Alcohol based ink so flammable and therefore hazardous material.

      • -1

If we're going to get pedantic - every package Amazon sends is made of cardboard/paper - flammable and therefore hazardous material.

smh at the stupidity of society today (not having a dig at you Apsilon)

  • Thanks op. Good one

Cool but I find the empire markers so better for around the house and garage. Don't wear out as fast and work in wet/greasy surfaces

Where can we get those for 57c each? They sound good

Great gift idea for kids whose parents you don’t like!

In all seriousness is anyone having trouble adding to cart or clicking buy it now? It hangs and sends me to an empty cart every time.

    Excellent whiteboard markers

  • Missed this, but it prompted me to get some more Sharpie Pens, and figure out the difference vs the regular ultrafine Sharpie markers.
tldr: The ink is different and the markers will bleed through everything

I recommend Sharpie Pens. They are very nice to write with

    • “tldr”?

I do not think that means what you think it means…

      • +3

You're right. Let me condense that further and provide a more concise summary of the differences between the felt tip Sharpie Pens and the almost identical looking Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Markers:

        tldr:

        Ink Types:

        • Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Marker:
These markers typically use an alcohol-based ink. Alcohol-based inks are known for their quick-drying properties and vibrant colors. They tend to be more intense and vivid compared to water-based inks. The alcohol base allows the ink to flow smoothly onto various surfaces and dries quickly upon contact. This makes Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Markers ideal for quick-drying applications where bold, long-lasting marks are needed.

        • Sharpie Pen (Felt Tip):
The Sharpie Pen, on the other hand, uses a pigment-based ink. Pigment-based inks are made from solid particles suspended in a liquid carrier. These inks are designed to be archival, meaning they are less likely to fade over time compared to dye-based inks. They also tend to be more resistant to water and light, making them suitable for applications where longevity and durability are important, such as in art and document signing.

        Characteristics and Applications:

        • Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Marker (Alcohol-based):
          • Characteristics: Alcohol-based inks are known for their ability to adhere well to non-porous surfaces and for their intense, vibrant colors. They are quick-drying and often provide a glossy finish.
          • Applications: These markers are commonly used for tasks such as labeling, marking on surfaces like plastic, metal, and glass, detailed artwork, and industrial applications where a permanent, bold mark is required.
        • Sharpie Pen (Felt Tip, Pigment-based):

          • Characteristics: Pigment-based inks offer strong color saturation, resistance to fading, and excellent lightfastness. They tend to have a smoother flow compared to alcohol-based inks and are often used in applications requiring precise, fine lines.
          • Applications: Sharpie Pens are suitable for everyday writing, note-taking, journaling, sketching, and detailed drawing where a consistent line width and archival quality are desired. They are also preferred for tasks where bleed-through on paper is a concern.

        Substrate Compatibility:

        • Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Marker: Due to its alcohol-based ink, this marker may bleed through certain types of paper and may not be suitable for use on very thin or absorbent papers without bleeding or feathering.

        • Sharpie Pen (Felt Tip): The pigment-based ink in Sharpie Pens tends to be more compatible with a wider range of papers, including those with less dense fibers, without bleeding or showing through to the other side as much as alcohol-based markers.

In summary, while both Sharpie Ultra Fine Permanent Markers and Sharpie Pens (Felt Tip) offer permanent marking solutions, their ink types differ significantly in terms of performance characteristics and application suitability. Understanding these differences allows users to choose the right tool for their specific needs, whether it's for precision detailing or everyday writing.

I hope this has been a useful summary of the lengthy comparison between these pens in my previous post, in case that was too long and you didn't read it

        • LOL!

Thanks for that definitive comparison of the characteristics of various Sharpie ink types - very comprehensive. However, the inference was never that you’d been negligent in your original synopsis, only that your “tldr” summary wasn’t a summary of anything you’d previously written at all, but rather - entirely new subject matter. Insightful, though it was…

Now that you’ve whet the appetite, I can’t wait to receive mine and start bleeding through everything I can get my hands on!

          • @UncleRico: Haha fair enough. The tldr was sorta for my own sake after wasting too much time investigating. It's not made very clear anywhere, and the marker types are often cheaper. Nearly bought a pack.

For the very curious, there are multiple videos comparing these 2 pens, including an 18min video that I haven't watched, but I'm sure is a real thrill ride
