  How is this better than a stainless steel version at $10 that does the same job, cleans up hygienically with ease and lasts for years? I've had the same set for 12 years and replaced the rubber seal once.

  IMHO this is just going to be groovy looking trash landfill in no time. FFS.

    If you have to ask, then you probably don't need it.
    For example, my $50 coffee strainer works just as well as my $2k Breville coffee machine :P

    My OXO strainer (not stopper) has lasted about 8 years so far. Far superior to the stainless-steel version that comes with most kitchen sinks.

        • None of the kinetic stainless steel sink strainers I own effectively seal water.
        • Just a small touch and the SS ones shut immediately.
        • Lots of brands have stainless steel versions, but it's difficult to find a good one since quality varies.
        • The OXO ones can hold a lot more gunk because of its shape and it's super easy to empty compared to the stainless steel ones.

        Looking at the Bunnings page, it seems many SS variants get poor feedback

            The ones that were supplied after we built our house was junk. Unfortunately, it seems common these days, cost of everything going up, builders using cheaper and cheaper materials that just don't last or perform :/

      The knob you use to lift and pusher the strainer is actually a retention screw. Unscrew that and the strainer falls into two pieces for thorough cleaning and fitting replacement seals. About $5 for a twin pack of seals at bunnings.

    We have a silicone 'No Brand' one with inbuilt strainer. It doesn't seal completely either. We went back to a push in rubber plug and separate strainer. Not a drop gets lost to poor sealing.

        Drop it in and push down the edges, it seals very well. We chose it because of the lift you can get a finger under. Other styles have something solid that makes them harder to lift, but you can find similar designs that take a chain.
        The fault in the design is the hole in the middle stays wet unless you get in the habit of leaving it upside-down to dry.
