Hello, I’ve been asked many times to repeat this deal and I have, its through Groupon and as I will be fulfilling the purchases I will make sure to send the course out as quickly as I can.

If you need to get a Christmas present for the Photographer in the family trust me, this is probably the cheapest and best option.

For the record last time I did this many people were hesitant to do the deal as the fulfilment with Groupon is sometimes slow, I have asked specifically to get the orders from Groupon every few days so I can fulfil the orders as quickly as possible, on the deal it says up to 2 weeks but I fulfilled 99% of all orders within a week, so don't worry, you will receive your course promptly.

And this lovely comment from one of the Ozbargain members
FWIW - I purchased this for my wife for Xmas as she has had a DLSR for a number of years but has never been truly happy with the photos that she has taken. On our camping trip last week my wife was going crazy trying all of the techniques that are explained on the DVD and I am just reviewing the photos now. Some big improvements already just doing the basics.
Why I like the DVD:

it covers most topics needed by us amateurs (ordinary folk) and provides some detail without getting caught up in all of the technical jargon
it is Australian and does not get caught up in being too serious and boring
whilst the camera that is used is a Canon the rules and guides are applicable to most brands of DSLR
it is a very nice introduction for those people who might wish to go on to formal, advanced face-to-face photography courses i.e. TAFE or private courses because it allows you to have the basics under your belt and not feel like a total newbie
product delivered on time, as promised and packaging, etc of good quality
it has an easy to use index so that you can skip to parts that you want to review and practice
There are more reasons but I suspect that you get the idea. I like it and recommend it. I have already passed on the details of the product to friends and family and have strongly recommended that they buy it.

Good Deal. How about a $10 Ozbargain special? It's always $15.

Yeah, because $15 is insanely expensive. Like, ridiculously for what you get. It's only a DVD, right?

    • its a groupon deal, unlikely OP will want to undercut a groupon.. is like shooting own foot.

then again, i don't think it's a good deal.. even books with the same title will drop in prices over periods of time.

  • Great video. I highly recommend it.

Why not sell directly on your ebay site at this price rather than losing a cut to Groupon? I would be more inclinded to purchase direct rather than via groupon.

    • ebay fees are still pretty high

I bought this last year too. it's well worth it for $15.

  • I bought this last time for my parents. They really enjoyed it, and say they learnt a lot from it.

I was a bit disappointed last time I got this - but it was cheap i guess so not that bad

    • Why is that, as I am considering buying it?

    • I agree, bought this for my gf and it is extremely basic. Doesn't really go into anything in depth. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone that has used a p&s in the past.

Be aware that this DVD is merely an introductory course to DSLR photography. All of the content present can be found online for free relatively easily.

Having said that though, it would still be a great gift for those who have extremely limited computer knowledge (e.g. old folks) or for those who don't have internet access.

    • Thanks for that. Almost fell for it. Looks like its just OP cash making baby

  • Agree with previous comments - Basic stuff that can be found on web. Fell for this last time due to popularity. Cheers

The course is very basic — if you have a photographer in the family, DO NOT get this for them unless you are sure they are complete newbies.

I ordered this, and was expecting a bit more than just the basics. If you already know the rule of thirds, how aperture and shutter work, then you definitely do not need this DVD.

    • finally, someone tells the truth.

      • The OP likes to link back to previous deals for all the posts. Wonder what he'd do now…lol

  • Very basic indeed, was expecting more, and too short too. I still have my copy and if anyone wants it I will do it for $10 including shipping.

  • Just to clarify, if what you are after is a detailed course worth hundred of dollars, this DVD is not suitable.

But for $15, the only thing cheaper in my camera kit is the compatible 'fake' Nikon remote control.
Everyone has different expectations I guess.
